Madeleine or Kara?

I love the name [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], pronounced Mad-uh-[name_u]LYNN[/name_u], but I can never decided on a spelling I like. I also like the name [name_f]Kara[/name_f], pronounced CARE-uh. I am afraid the spelling [name_f]Cara[/name_f] will get pronounced CAR-uh. Kind thoughts and opinions please! I like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a middle name for both.

I love [name_f]Cara[/name_f]. I dont think it would get pronounced wrong.

I think [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would have more pronunciation issues. I am personally tired of that name, but I’m a teacher! I like [name_f]Kara[/name_f]/ [name_f]Cara[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Kara[/name_f], and I love the name. Most people pronounce my name the way I want it (Care - uh). Though every now and then someone pronounces it as (Car - uh), but I quickly correct them. I would go with the name [name_f]Kara[/name_f], but I’m a bit biased.

I think [name_f]Kara[/name_f] would have less issues.

I actually love [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but I prefer the french pronunciation of Mah-duh-len. But most people either pronounce it -line or -lyn.

[name_f]Madaleine[/name_f] by far…[name_f]Madaleine[/name_f] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] way of spelling it…otherwise go with [name_f]Madalene[/name_f] or [name_f]Madalynn[/name_f].

I know a girl named [name_f]Kara[/name_f], and I’ve never heard anyone call her CAR-uh, so I think you’d be fine. If you like the -[name_u]LYNN[/name_u] pronounciation, it’s probably better to go with [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or something like that to avoid pronunciation issues.

[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] names are so ubiquitous these days; I much prefer [name_f]Kara[/name_f]/[name_f]Cara[/name_f] and agree with the pps who think you’d actually get fewer pronunciation issues.

I like Cara.

[name_f]Kara[/name_f]! [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and forms of it are still very popular. [name_f]Kara[/name_f] is a more refreshing choice

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]! Classic, timeless, elegant… Beautiful for any child.

I personally like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and here are some spellings:
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]-I would totally spell it this way because it is foolproof and everyone would pronounce it this way.

I prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - sophisticated

I love [name_f]Kara[/name_f].

I’m a brit and it would never occur to me to pr. [name_f]Cara[/name_f]/[name_f]Kara[/name_f] as Care-Uh. But either way I prefer it to [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f].

I also have been thinking about the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and the nickname [name_f]Cara[/name_f]. I feel [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a full elegant first name and then a cute nickname. I just prefer the spelling [name_f]Kara[/name_f]. Hmm…

Definitely [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. [name_f]Kara[/name_f] is rather insubstantial. [name_f]Keira[/name_f] would be more interesting.
