I really like the names [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], but I can’t decide which one I like better.
I like the classic feel of Madeleine and the tie to the book which I loved as a child.
I also love the freshness that Madelyn has, while still being somewhat classic.
I don’t love Madison, I think it’s a boys name and these feel much more feminine to me.
I would use the nn [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] for either one.
Which name would you choose and how would you spell it? I sort of like all these spellings:
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Madaleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Madilynn[/name_f], [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f],
Thanks!

Good: [name_f]Madaleine[/name_f] Better: [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] Best: [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
The spellings with Y don’t feel fresh to me, rather trendy and even misspelled. I’d stick with the original.

I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] the best. It’s more streamlined than [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], whilst still being a ‘legit’ version of the name.
I don’t like any of the others at all.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is classic, elegant & correct. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is cutesy to me.

I agree! prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], then [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. Actively dislike -y versions of the name. Sorry!

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is on our list for our second daughter (due in [name_f]May[/name_f]). I personally loathe the [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] spelling…it seems like it is a trendy American take on [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. You can’t go wrong with sticking with more original spellings (imo). [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] seems much more grown up to me as well…[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] seems more childish.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] hands down! The name is very elegant and effortless.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], definitely. Classic is nearly always best.
Always, always, always [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. It’s beautiful. I don’t like any variation of [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - the legit spelling!
I strongly dislike the spelling [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or any of the other trendy ones spelt with a y. I like both [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] but I think it depends how you want to pronounce it because they are pronounced differently.
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - MAD-uh-line or Mad-uh-LEEN
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - Mad-uh-LENNE or MAD-uh-lin
If you like [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] then maybe [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would be closest in sound?

If it isn’t illegal to spell [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] as [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] in at least 50 states, it should be.
