Madeline Blair or Colette Blair

I can’t choose which combo I like more! Please let me know if any other berries have advice or recommendations! Also does the name Madeline automatically make you think of the nickname Maddie because I am not a fan of the nn due to meeting people who were teased for this nickname while “mad”…

Colette Blair is already on my list but I am willing to make a change :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]Colette[/name_f] is fresh and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is not to me (I teach). [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u] is lovely.

thank you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I prefer [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]! It’s more unexpected and unique. I think [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u] could also work. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is just a little too popular for my taste. [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] works as a nice alternative.

As I say with any name that has an obvious nickname, it doesn’t necessarily matter whether other people would automatically shorten it. [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is an easy nickname to get to, and if she decided at some point that she wanted to go by [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], would you be able to call her that without cringing? To stay safe from that, I went with [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. I also think it’s sweet!

If you want to avoid [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], I’d go with [name_f]Colette[/name_f] (which is lovely)

I think both are lovely but lean toward [name_f]Colette[/name_f] here because I think there are more potential cons for you with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].

I actually really like both of these names, but I’m with you on [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. I don’t like it much either, and it’s such a natural nickname. Go with [name_f]Colette[/name_f]! It’s so chic and sweet and so underused!

[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u] flows better imo but I LOVE the name [name_f]Colette[/name_f] and dislike [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], so I went with [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u].

I can completely understand your hesitation with the nn. I had a similar feeling when naming my last… I was so hesitant on the name [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] because all I could see was the nn Giddy and that becoming some teasing factor when he was less then giddy. I still ended up going with the name but defaulted to a different nn which I dont think was intuitive to others but as they heard me say it it became naturally easy for everyone else.the thing is with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] I dont know how else to shorten it that could could avid your issue. Maybe [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I will say sound wise I do prefer [name_f]Colette[/name_f]

[name_f]Colette[/name_f] all the way! [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] are some NN options. [name_m]Just[/name_m] so over [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and all the variations
