Madeline

Is [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] too late 90s / early 2000s to be used on a baby born in the 20s?

Definitely not! [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] has always felt super young and youthful to me, regardless of the decade it was used in. I actually follow a girl on Instagram who has a just over 1 year old daughter named [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] “[name_f]Maddie[/name_f]”, and I think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is more outdated (still don’t think it’s actually outdated) than [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].

Definitely not! I think of [name_u]Madison[/name_u] more from that era. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] feels very on-trend for today.

I don’t think so! I love [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]!

I agree with PPs that it’s not dated at all! Beautiful choice.

Not at all. It feels versatile and pretty

[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is really cute! I do prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] in general, but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] isn’t dated at at. How are you pronouncing it? With the -lyn ending or the -line ending?

Originally from the south east us, my first thought was the -lyn pronunciation but I think that this spelling isn’t the one typically used for -lyn

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] would have more of a -lyn ending, but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] works as well. I know someone named [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] that says it with the -lyn ending.

I know one [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (teenager) who uses the lyn spelling but almost exclusively goes by [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]

This nickname is meh to me… not sure how i feel about it…

similar to the nickname [name_u]Gabby[/name_u] for [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]

I find [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] dated, but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] in full is lovely.

Yes agree with the above statement^^^^
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is very pretty but [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]/Maddie is a bit over done. Maybe the nn [name_f]Della[/name_f] would make it more fresh?

I do like the nickname della!

Is it common for a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] to go by their full name?

It seems that [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is more popular now but I also am meh on that [name_f]Addy[/name_f] nickname

I don’t think so. [name_u]Madison[/name_u] is, but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is more timeless imo.

My niece is [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (with the “line” prn.) and she is only 1!
I see it more as timeless/classic than something that easily dates.

The only girls called [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] that I know were born in the late '90s and early 2000s (all pronounce their names with the -lyn ending). [name_m]Even[/name_m] so, I see [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] as classic. It is very pretty :slightly_smiling_face:

Definitely not! I think i would associate it more with girls born more recently than in the 90’s or early 2000s

It will likely lead to [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and then she’d be one of many. Depends if that would bother you or her.
