Madison (Madi) šŸŒæ

Hey berries, me again :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Soā€¦ my husband loves the name Madison, and itā€™s definitely beginning to grow on me! I love that he loves it, because he really doesnā€™t like many names at all!! :face_exhaling:

I also love the meaning of the name - ā€˜son of Matthewā€™, my late grandparentsā€™ surname was Matthews :two_hearts: and Iā€™ve also read it means ā€˜mighty warrierā€™ or ā€˜strength in battleā€™ which I also adore as my grandfather was a soldier :blue_heart:

I have a couple of things Iā€™d like your opinion on though pleaseā€¦

  1. What do you think about the combination Madison Scarlett? Scarlett is a name weā€™ve spoken about on and off since our daughter was born almost 9 years ago, and itā€™s her favourite name too :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: but I just donā€™t love it enough to use it as a first.

  2. Our surname is Green@n, so her first and surname has the same end sounding - Madison Green@n. Normally I am really put off by this, but for some reason itā€™s not bothering me so much with this name - what are your feelings???

  3. Do you think it goes with our daughter Zara? She would be known as Madi / Maddie (I think I prefer Madi though as itā€™s a bit different and also has 4 letters)

Any other comments appreciated!

Thanks as always :raised_hands:t4:

I like it! [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and Maddie/Madi are really cute together, and I donā€™ think the last name is a issue at all! The only shared letter is really N.

[name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is nice!

[name_f]Madison[/name_f] sounds like a great choice for you! So much wonderful family significance, plus great that your husband loves it.

[name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is a great combo! I think it flows really well. Iā€™m not bothered by the sounds of [name_f]Madison[/name_f] G----n, I think ā€œNā€ ending surnames are so common that nobody will think much of it. If anything, it has a sort of cool rhythmic cadence to it.

I think it works with [name_f]Zara[/name_f]! Especially [name_f]Madi[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f], I like how theyā€™re the same length and feel sort of fun and international.

[name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] feels contemporary, cool and sharp - sheā€™s style and feels versatile too

I think the extra syllable in [name_f]Madison[/name_f] breaks it up and it sounds fine to me

I think it could work, though they are slightly unexpected; [name_f]Zara[/name_f] feels a bit more stylish and sharp whereas [name_f]Madison[/name_f] feels more all-American. But they donā€™t clash

[name_f]Madi[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] feel really on-trend, I like it! I donā€™t mind the repetition of [name_f]Madison[/name_f] Gā€”n, especially if sheā€™ll usually be called [name_f]Madi[/name_f]. I knew a [name_f]Madison[/name_f] who had a double-barreled surname that both ended in N, and she seemed to make it work :joy:

I also like the tie to the [name_m]Matthews[/name_m] surname, I think it really is a nice name for you!

I think [name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] sounds beautiful!! [name_f]Madi[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] are different style-wise, thatā€™s my only hang up but wouldnā€™t be a dealbreaker for me I donā€™t think.

  1. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] isnā€™t for me, but the combo flows well!

  2. I donā€™t think itā€™s a big deal, [name_f]Madison[/name_f] Grā€”n sounds nice enough when I say it out loud.

  3. [name_f]Madison[/name_f] feels much more expected and safe than [name_f]Zara[/name_f], so her big sisterā€™s name would definitely stand out to me in comparison. Especially with the nickname Madi/Maddie, which is so common among girls born in the 2000s. That said, itā€™s definitely not such a shocking clash that they canā€™t work together!

Thank you all! Definitely gives me some things to consider. I canā€™t believe how hard it is to name a child!!

  1. [name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] sounds good.

  2. I donā€™t mind the endings too much, I think itā€™s fine.

  3. I donā€™t think [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_f]Madison[/name_f] match well, they feel very different in fact. [name_f]Madi[/name_f] matches even less to me.
However, this only matters if it you care about matching names.

Ahhh itā€™s lovely that you both have found a name you love with such meaning :yellow_heart:

I think Madison Scarlett is great! The name is packed with meaning for you guys, has a pretty feminine southern flair and feels fashionable.

I think Madison sounds just fine with your surname very solid choice.

I love her with Zar@ the overall sibling set feels stylish and pretty. I wouldnā€™t naturally pair them together but to be honest I think itā€™s fine. The love off a name is far more important than cohesion.

Iā€™m sorry, but I think it means ā€œson of Maudā€, not [name_m]Matthew[/name_m].

I like [name_f]Madison[/name_f] and [name_f]Madison[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

Itā€™s fine.

I prefer no nickname, but [name_f]Madi[/name_f] looks okay. Many people will spell it [name_f]Maddie[/name_f].

[name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_f]Madison[/name_f] are fine, but a bit mismatched (not a bad thing).

Thank you, but nameberry along with many other sources say the meaning is son of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. Perhaps similarly to many names it has more than one meaning :slightly_smiling_face:
