Mae or Aida?

My husband and I love the name [name]Amelia[/name] for a future daughter, and if we ever have a girl that will most likely be her name. The middle name we have always put with it is [name]Mae[/name]. We love it, but today I was thinking about the meaning of the name [name]Amelia[/name] (it means work) and thinking of middle names to go with the meaning. I came across [name]Aida[/name] (eye-EE-da), which means reward or present, and I really like how put with [name]Amelia[/name], the full name could mean “reward of my work.” Kind of cheesy, I know, but I like the thought behind it. However, I don’t know if it flows very well. What do you guys think? If you had to choose between [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name], which would you choose? Meanings behind names don’t matter that much to me, I was just kind of experimenting. Thanks!

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] actually flows ok. I think [name]Mae[/name] in the middle name spot, especially with [name]Amelia[/name], is extremely predictable, so I actually prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name]. Have you considered [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] [name]Aida[/name], that might even out the flow.

I prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]/[name]May[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] is too matchy in sound for my liking especially with the strong, repetitive “ee” sound and back-to-back a’s.

Agree with this:)

Definitely [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] doesn’t flow at all, [name]IMO[/name].

I agree that [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] flows much better. I also don’t think A A are the world’s greatest initials…

I absolutely love [name]Aida[/name]! I love the opera connection, too–I had to learn part of it on the piano when I took lessons, so it holds a special place in my heart. I don’t think [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] sounds very good, though–I would either opt for [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Aida[/name] or save [name]Aida[/name] as a MN for a second daughter, if her FN doesn’t end in an “A” (something like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Aida[/name] or [name]Sophie[/name] [name]Aida[/name], maybe?).

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is really sweet!

Good luck!

[name]Both[/name] are beautiful, but I think that [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] flows much better than [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] (too much “a”). I wouldn 't care about the AA initials, thougth I’d try to avoid it

Good luck!
[name]Pilar[/name].

I think [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] for sure, the other pair doesn’t flow at all, sorry.

I prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] too. What will you nickname her? [name]Millie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]? So cute!

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! I think that [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Aida[/name] has too many A sounds, but [name]Aida[/name] itself is lovely:-)

I agree with [name]Mischa[/name] on this one. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds really cute, too.
