We just found out we are pregnant with #3 (yay!) and we have two daughters, [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (just turned 4) and [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] (pn. [name_f]RO[/name_f]-sheen) [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (almost 2). We are absolutely in love with the name [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] (pn. Muh-RAID) but worry it is too close to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I’m pretty sure it is, but my husband is holding out hope. Thoughts?
Also on our list (well… MY list ;))
[name_f]Fionnuala[/name_f] (love it, but another mouthful) [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u] (also sounds silly with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!) [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] (I am leaning towards [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]-- simple but unusual, easy to spell and say, unlike [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] :))
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] ([name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is probably my favorite but my husband has been against it for years now!)
To get a feel for our style, our favorite boy names are:
[name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]
One of the first things I thought of after finding out the test was positive was-- can I post to Nameberry yet?? also, because we will be Team [name_u]Green[/name_u] again, expect posts on both forums!
Thanks for your help everyone! You were instrumental in naming both my older girls
Congrats! [name_m]How[/name_m] exciting for your family
I love your girls’ names. [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] is also lovely. iF you’re in the US I would expect pronunciation to be an issue (no more than [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] though), but not really a big deal. In terms of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] together, I fee like it would leave [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] out a bit, but I don’t think they sound too similar to be sisters. Personally, I would go with something starting with a different letter. I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is cute too but with your girls I think [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] pairs better. What about something like [name_f]Eira[/name_f]? [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] are lovely together and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Kathyrn[/name_f] sounds nice too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your response! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] that you don’t think they are too similar, but I get your point about leaving [name_f]Ro[/name_f] out. I so wish I could do [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] but it’s just so unappealing to me. Any other ways to get to nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is not my personal style either, but I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. Routes to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] that I can think of (and have considers myself!) are [name_u]Wynn[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]
