Maeve or Adele -- thoughts?

I would like to know your thoughts on the following:

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Adele[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]

It’s so difficult to let go of a name, don’t you think? Arggh! Naming girls is so hard.

Okay… I always like [name]Maeve[/name], but I am not brave enough to seriously consider it. I worry ppl will confuse it with [name]Mauve[/name]. But ppl are crazy, so whatever… you can’t stop them messing up names.

[name]Adele[/name], on the other hand, is beautiful. For some reason, I want to see a second ‘l’ in there, [name]Adelle[/name]. I really like the fact that you can get [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Ella[/name] out of [name]Adele[/name] / [name]Adelle[/name].

Good luck!

[name]Maeve[/name] - everyone on the forums seems to love this one but sounds like an 80 year old to me, sorry!

I love love love [name]Adele[/name] though - such a pretty name and I know an [name]Adele[/name] and she’s lovely. We always call her [name]Adele[/name] though and wouldn’t shorten it to [name]Addie[/name] so don’t let that worry you too much!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] and would use it on my daughter if one of my cousins hadnt already used it. I feel the opposite of the last poster, I think [name]Maeve[/name] sounds fresh and [name]Adele[/name] sounds older.

I love both [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Adele[/name]! I think I like [name]Maeve[/name] better-- it’s always been one of my favorites. I don’t think it’ll get trendy. [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] are so gorgeous. [name]Adele[/name] is also nice, but I don’t like [name]Adele[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]. And by the way, both are miles better than [name]Morgan[/name], in my opinion!

Good luck

I love [name]Adele[/name], and much prefer it to [name]Maeve[/name]. I really like [name]Morgan[/name] (spelled that way) for a girl too.
I like [name]Adele[/name] [name]Lenora[/name] and also [name]Adele[/name] [name]Nora[/name], or [name]Adele[/name] [name]Leora[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]!

It seems that you’ve made the decision already, from the way I look at it. [name]Maeve[/name] has many more meaningful pros than [name]Adele[/name] does, it seems, and the cons for [name]Maeve[/name] don’t really seem to terrible to me.

I see [name]Maeve[/name] as a whimsical, free spirit type of girl, who can be studious and witty when she wants to be. I know a young girl named [name]Maeve[/name], with and older brother, [name]Keegan[/name], and a younger brother, [name]Cormac[/name]. Yes, a whole lot of Irish!

If it means anything, I adore [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]! Wow, I unintentionally rhymed! Must be a sign…

[name]Lemon[/name]

Wow, thanks, everyone, for your insights.

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is lovely and my favorite of your combos. [name]Adele[/name] is nice as well, but I do think it would be too many "L"s with a form of [name]Eleanor[/name] in the middle, and [name]Maeve[/name] sounds fresher to me. I prefer both names to [name]Morgan[/name].

Oh, I love [name]Maeve[/name]!!! I think it’s gorgeous! I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name], too, as well as the suggestion of [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elinor[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name]!

Good luck!

What about [name]Lenora[/name] [name]Adelle[/name] or [name]Adelle[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]?

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is stunning, and a million time more elegant than [name]Morgan[/name]. It sounds to me like [name]Maeve[/name] is your preferred choice. [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Adele[/name] would make a good sibling set someday. As far as it becoming popular, I wouldnt worry about it. I’ve known many Morgans, but not one [name]Maeve[/name]. And plus if in ten years it becomes popular you will be a trend setter, not a trend follower

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name] is my favorite from your names. [name]Adele[/name] sounds too ‘old lady’ for me. sorry.

I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]. For some reason it reminds me of fairies, so it has a whimsical air.
I don’t think you need to worry about it being too popular, as I have never met a baby [name]Maeve[/name] (or an adult one for that matter).

I think [name]Adele[/name] is charming too, but [name]Maeve[/name] is a real winner.

Thanks, everyone! Now I just have to get my husband to promise to quit referring to her as “[name]Maevy[/name] Gravy” and we’ll be all set  I just hope this doesn’t mean she’s in for a lifetime of teasing from her peers!

There are a ton of Gracies out there who are probably more at risk of gravy teasing.

[name]Maeve[/name] is stunning, and so much more distinctive than [name]Adele[/name]. I know lots of Adeles and no Maeves, but I’d love it if I did.

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is gorgeous!

As for honouring a [name]Gertrude[/name], how would you feel about the variant form [name]Gerda[/name]? Still a bit clunky but I prefer the [name]Gert[/name] side of [name]Gertrude[/name] to the [name]Trude[/name] side anyway.

Or how about honouring her with a different G name, or her favourite flower/colour/song?

You all have been so helpful, I really appreciate all your thoughtful responses and insights! My husband is crazy about [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name] and I think it’s becoming my preference, too.

We’ll have to find another way to honor my other grandmother in the future – thanks!

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Maeve[/name]–am pregnant now and have a sneaking suspicion it’s a girl. With my previous daughter we struggled with using [name]Maeve[/name] or not, partially because of the fear of it becoming ultra trendy overnight (there will be 2 [name]Maeve[/name]'s in my son’s class, and a good friend just named her daughter [name]Maeve[/name]). We went with [name]Merci[/name] [name]Maguire[/name] for my daughter, after both my grandmas. [name]Mercedes[/name]-(pronounced French way, and her nn was [name]Merci[/name]), and [name]Maguire[/name] being the other’s maiden name. Now if this one is a girl, [name]Maeve[/name] it is, as we have no other names we can agree on! It’s beautiful, and let’s hope it doesn’t enter trendiness. I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]! Congratulations!

I like all your names, morgan, adele and maeve.
