I’m expecting a baby girl in [name_u]January[/name_u] and we’re still narrowing down our list of names. One of my top choices from the beginning has been [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. When my sister asked what names we were considering, I mentioned this as one of my likely choices. [name_m]Both[/name_m] times, she responded with comments that it’s very similar to her daughter’s name, [name_f]Ava[/name_f], saying that somethings they call her Av or Avey. Are these names too similar for cousins? I don’t really see that but would like to get others’ views. Thanks!
Definitely not. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is a very popular name. It’s also very short and shares the “ay” sound with countless other girls’ names. Your sister definitely has no veto power over this one.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is a gorgeous name.
For sisters, I would say they are too similar. But for cousins I don’t think it’s a problem. And like previous poster suggested, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are miles away in terms of style. No worries.
I think your sis is being silly! I don’t know the family dynamics, though. Would this cause a lifelong grudge? Or would she grow to accept the name? I think the 2 cousins would probably like their names being matchy. Ultimately, you can name your baby whatever you like (even [name_f]Ava[/name_f]); she doesn’t get a say!
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_f]Ava[/name_f] do sound similar, but are not too close for cousins at all.
They’re not too similar, especially for cousins. Please stick with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! It’s beautiful.
If the kids are going to grow up together, they’re a bit too close. If they live in different towns…doesn’t really matter.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] is so popular that lots of names will sound like it. It seems to me she is a little jealous of this fabulous pick. I love the way [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] looks and sounds. Modern and royal! As long as [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is not [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]'s sibling, you are good!
For sisters, I would say they are too similar. But for cousins I don’t think it’s a problem.
I agree with this.
I think if they were sister then it would be way too similar, but it should be fine for cousins. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name!
I don’t see the similarity, and I don’t think I would confuse a [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] with an [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. If you like it, I say go ahead.
