[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] has become my top girl name. I love that she was a badass [name_f]Queen[/name_f], it’s meaning, the simple sound and that it reflects my ancestry. I would like your thoughts on the name and what kind of style do you think it falls under?
Which names of the following would you best match with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]?
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/Beatrice- can’t decide which I like better, meaning ties closely to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]- Family name
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]- Should I use just [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or have her full name be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]?
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]- Family name, nn might be [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]- I have Scottish origins as well
@MG1257 Thank you for your thoughts! Why would you choose [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] over [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]? I’m trying to figure out which one I like best… I’d prefer to use the full name not a nickname.
I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has a cooler, warrior princess kind of feel. They feel very balanced, since [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] has the strong v and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has the strong x.
Love the idea of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] together! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f] & [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are my other favorites, but, really, they all could work well – with the exception of [name_f]Olive[/name_f], because the matching endings are a little much, imo. I would pick [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] over [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] for the same reason as @may.rose and @Greyblue. And I’d go for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] over [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
As far as style goes, I count [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] among the ‘short and sweet’ and the ‘timeless’ girl names. It’s very versatile in style, as shown by the way it matches well with so many different names of various styles.
Beatrix, [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] go the best imo. I chose [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] over [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] because it feels way more spunky to me, which I think matches the vibe of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] better.
Maeve is lovely! Simple, strong, and beautiful. I think it fits perfectly with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], or [name_f]Flora[/name_f]–another name with a distinctive letter (x, z, or long o) and an equally bright, lively sound. I would definitely go for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] over [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Olive[/name_f], too, but they feel a little more soft and vintage to me whereas I think of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] as bold and energetic. You have a great list!
Flora, Olive, Iris and Beatrix are all gorgeous with Maeve! Beatrix (I prefer this to Beatrice as it has a lot more spunk and feels much more contemporary) and Flora stand out for me though as the best fit with Maeve. I love Matilda and Margot as well and they do go with Maeve, I just tend not to love siblings whose names start with the same letter. Lovely names!
Maeve, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] sound so beautiful together! This would be the most perfect set ever! I prefer the soft and short [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] with this set. However, [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would sound amazing for sisters.
I also really like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] together.
We just named our daughter [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] was a contender for her middle name—I liked [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (rather than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]) for its Shakespearean connection. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] seems a little more elegant, and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] a little more edgy. On your list, I think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Margery[/name_f], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]/Elizabeth make good middle names for [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/Beatrix, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] would make great siblings for [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
