Magali Belen

What do we think of this name ([name_f]Magali[/name_f] [name_f]Belen[/name_f]) for our third daughter? [name_f]Magali[/name_f] was a name my husband actually liked from my list of first names, and then I had [name_f]Belen[/name_f] as a middle name for a different name, and he said, “What about [name_f]Magali[/name_f] [name_f]Belen[/name_f]?”

Some background info:
-Almost 7 year old is [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] [name_f]Xochitl[/name_f]
-3 year old is [name_f]Kiana[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
-husband is from Mexico, with indigenous heritage (family speaks both Spanish and Nahuatl)
-last name is similar to Espinoza

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts!

Thank you! It’s kind of like Mah-gah-lee. I’m bad with spelling out pronunciations!

Such a pretty combo! [name_f]My[/name_f] niece has a friend named [name_f]Magali[/name_f], and I’ve always thought it was so lovely and unexpected. I especially love seeing [name_f]Belen[/name_f] too, I think it’s such an underappreciated gem. Also, it goes so perfectly with your other daughters names!!! [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], [name_f]Kiana[/name_f], & [name_f]Magali[/name_f] just sound like sisters!!

I really liked [name_f]Magali[/name_f] but unfortunately, I’ve heard of someone who used it to honor MAGA and now I can’t unsee it. I really love [name_f]Belen[/name_f] though and the combo sounds great! It also works with older sisters, who both have gorgeous names.

Ohhh, it’s beautiful! Surprising but really lovely, flowy and bright.

I’ve loved sweet [name_f]Magali[/name_f] for a long time, it’s rather dated in [name_f]France[/name_f] now but feels very fresh and quirky elsewhere. I’d love to meet a little one!

Wow I’m pleasantly surprised with all the positive feedback on this name! I feel like if I share it with my family or even some friends they will think it is weird.

7 years ago when I was working in a preschool classroom I met a little girl named [name_f]Magali[/name_f]. Her parents were from [name_f]El[/name_f] [name_m]Salvador[/name_m], and she wore beautiful dresses to school every day. She was 3 years old when I met her and had beautiful curly black hair. Both my girls have dark brown or black hair (depends on the lighting) so I’m guessing this little one will as well.

@SparkleNinja18 I never thought about that, but I hope people around me don’t think of that. I’m in a generally democratic state/town.

@katinka I saw on BehindtheName that [name_f]Magali[/name_f] was popular in [name_f]France[/name_f] in like the 70s, but it has never been on the top 1000 here in the US.

Does anyone know the real origin/meaning of [name_f]Magali[/name_f]? On Nameberry, it shows as being a variation/coming from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. But on BehindtheName, it shows as coming from [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f].

Just wondering because my dad’s sister, mother, and grandmother were all named [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (my aunt legally changed her name to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]). It would be kind of cool to have that connection.

Well we told the girls what their little sister’s name will be. Then I called my dad and brother and let [name_f]Noemí[/name_f] tell them the baby’s name. I did not get a good reaction from my dad, which was expected of him. He said it sounds like “my golly”. Then my brother was arguing with me over whether [name_f]Magali[/name_f] is a [name_u]French[/name_u] name or not. I just told them they will get used to her name.

Thank you so much! [name_f]My[/name_f] dad did not care for it. I hope I get better reactions from my husband’s side of the family.
