We’re expecting a daughter in early fall, and my husband and I have settled on the name [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. We shared this with my parents who loved that name, but they think our middle name choice, [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], is “twee” and too cutesy. They think people will make fun of her. [name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts are (1) it’s not THAT unusual and (2) because it is her middle name, it’s not something that people will know about her unless she tells them. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom thinks it’s the combination of the two names that makes it so cutesy. What do you guys think? Is the middle name or first/middle combination over the top sweet? Should I temper the cuteness of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] with a more substantial/traditional middle name?
Thanks for your input!
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
P.S. Our son’s name is “[name_m]Austin[/name_m] [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]” if that factors into your opinion at all.
I may be biased, as my name is [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], but I do not think it’s cutesy at all. I think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is beautiful!
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] isn’t even a cutesy name, it’s a [name_m]French[/name_m] variant of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. Therefore, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] isn’t the slightest bit cutesy - and I think you should go for it
Thank you all! I think so too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] needed a little bit of reassurance. I’m sure it’s one of those situations where, once the name has been given, they’ll love it.
