Magnus

I wish I loved [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] because on paper it would be perfect for us, but I don’t. The sounds are not my favourite and I’ve always felt like it should be spelled Mangnus given how it’s pronounced.

What do you think of [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]? Any associations?

I like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]. It reminds me of mountains and has strength. [name_f]My[/name_f] main association is the character from [name_u]Ali[/name_u] Smith’s book, the accidental, but I don’t think it’s likely to be most people’s association

I love [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]. It’s strong and stately and feels unique without being too out there. I tend to like a lot of ancient Latin and Scandinavian names though so it’s right up my alley.

I’m not sure what you mean about its pronunciation making you think it should be spelled Mangus? I think it would sound very different to how it’s pronounced if it looked like this. Anyway, just thought I’d note that

What about [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] makes it perfect for you? Perhaps we could suggest other names with a similar vibe/sound (or whatever else it is that makes it right for you on paper) that you might prefer?

I feel exactly the same way about [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]. When I was pregnant with [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] it was on our shortlist for ages, because in theory it was perfect for us. But I just don’t love it. I do, however, adore [name_m]Magni[/name_m] and [name_f]Maggi[/name_f] (but the last one doesn’t feel very usable for a boy outside of Iceland).

I still like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] for other people, it’s a nice name and I’d love to meet a little [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], but it doesn’t sparkle enough for me to consider using it.

I really like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]. [name_f]Mag[/name_f]- in general has a very cozy, comfortable feel to me. I understand what you mean by Mangnus, although I personally prefer the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation (The Swedish/Norwegian one sounds less appealing to me).
I don’t really have many associations except the character in [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

It feels very grand but not in a pompous way. I really like it.
