What do you think of the name Mahalia( meaning tenderness, affection ) ?

I think it’s a beautiful sounding name. However, I am from [name_u]New[/name_u] Orleans so the [name_f]Mahalia[/name_f] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] association is overwhelming for this name. It honestly verges on being a “one person” kind of name i.e. [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f], [name_f]Aretha[/name_f], [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f], etc.
However, I also understand this association may not be as prevalent in other places.

Thank you for your comment, that’s a very good point. It’s such a strong and beautiful name though! I live in Ireland and while Mahalia wouldn’t be as well known, I think if I were to use it I might use it as a middle name.
