[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] married name is a common P last name. [name_f]My[/name_f] maiden name is [name_m]Rice[/name_m].
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] [name_m]Rice[/name_m] is a food
I’d like to go back to my maiden name but also hate the “I had that for dinner last night jokes”. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I hyphenate? Change my J to a Y? What would you do? Any way to make that flow better or not immediately give you a food connotation.
I’d go with [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] “Parker”-Rice. That doesn’t sound too wordy to me.
I think [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a lovely name. It’s a little long, but you can go by that. I agree that adding a second name after [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] for a double barrel first name could solve the problem.
You could move [name_m]Rice[/name_m] to the middle name spot. [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Rice[/name_m] ‘Palmer’ that way the connection is still there but you don’t hear it paired with [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].
Oh wow, I bet you had so many people think they were so original and clever making those jokes, and I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of rolling your eyes! Everyone thinks they’re the first to make those kinds of jokes haha.
I think hyphenating would solve the issue! The suggestion of having Rice as your second last name is perfect because it breaks up the Jasmine + Rice. I wouldn’t even think about it if I read Jasmine “Peterson”-Rice However, I think I would notice the connection if it were flipped to the more traditional hyphenating option of Jasmine Rice-“Peterson” because Jasmine + Rice would be said together.
If you do want to bring Rice back but don’t feel the need to have it on display, you could do the second middle name suggestion. My second middle name is my maiden name because I still wanted to keep it, but I was also okay with not going by it (hence the middle spot).
I think changing to Yasmine would be a weird mini Identity crisis issue for me, so I personally wouldn’t choose that. I think it’s easier to get used to a new last name than a new first name, even if it is so similar. I could also see people making the connection with the type of rice even with Yasmine.
Hope this helps! Sorry, I am a wordy person
I’d hyphenate in this case, I think!
I wouldn’t change your first name. I think it would be hard to adjust to that change. I don’t believe the food connection justifies that alteration.
I think keeping [name_m]Rice[/name_m] as a second middle name is probably the safest choice to avoid the food connection. With [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the middle and your married surname in the mix, I think it will work out! Honestly, the comments about the food are now that bad, in my opinion, all names can be made fun of as long as there is imagination.
If you want to use [name_m]Rice[/name_m] on your daily basis, you can hyphenate it. The order, that’s up to you. I advice you to go with the option that flows better or the idea that you would like to pass to your children (if that’s in your plans).
If you already use the [name_f]Yasmine[/name_f] pronunctiation I wouldnt see a problem changing the spelling to reflect that.
But if not I think I would go for the hyphenated option, with your married name first & your maiden name last.
