I think I’ve found the name we’ve been searching for. And my husband loves it too. I’m just so, so in love that I feel the need to go prancing through the streets chanting it at the top of my lungs. I’m obviously going to resist that urge, so I’m posting here instead for opinions. So, any opinions? Also, thoughts on middle names? Other names we’ve been considering/that may be used as a middle are: [name_f]Alaina[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f]. My husband loves [name_u]Sage[/name_u] too, which I do like but not yet convinced. Ideas? Thanks all!
I wasn’t sure how to pronounced it at first, I thought it was [name_f]May[/name_f]-reed (which I like better tbh), but Mah-raid is pretty too (:
I don’t like [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] because it’s sounds too alike.
I like (including your suggestions):
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Aurore[/name_f]
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] would sound nice. I also like:
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Dalilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
I think it would get mispronounced as may-reed a lot, which is lovely, but probably not what you’re looking for. Obviously, I’m not sure what country you’re from, and if you live in the UK there’s a much higher likelihood that no pronunciation issues will occur.
[name_f]Alaina[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] sound the best of your options.
I would not know how to pronounce this without a key. It looks like it would be said as may-[name_u]READ[/name_u]. With this name, I would give a girly and slightly more known middle name.
I had a student with this name, of course I didn’t know how to pronounce it, so when I was doing roll call she said you can call me [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I had to wait until parent conferences to learn how to say her name because after asking the student twice I still wasn’t sure what she was saying because she was quiet (like extremely shy, could barely understand her when she asked me to go to the bathroom, lasted all year). At parent conferences her parents simply said it’s like “parade” with an M. As soon as I learnt how to say it I fell in love and was wondering why she went by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
I live in the US and I honestly don’t see a problem with pronunciations. As a teacher I have had many students with names I didn’t know how to pronounce but in the end it all gets cleared up as soon as they tell me how to say it. No big deal.
I love the combo
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] (this is on my list haha)
I love this name a lot. I have a Mhairi, so kind of similar. [name_f]Mairead[/name_f] is beautiful! I am not great at suggestions w/ middles as I would just try an find a family name of significance and go from there.
I love [name_f]Mairead[/name_f]
I’d suggest something classic and beginning with a vowel as a MN: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], perhaps?
