[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is an adorable name! I’m not sure I’d use it as a name on it’s own though. I used to be under the assumption that it was just a nickname but I guess it isn’t. Are there any names it could be a nickname for though?
Maybe [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? That seems to be a magical nickname generating name.
Or [name_f]Maris[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Marissa[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
Although I think I like just [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] better than any of those…
I think [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] is the only one that sounds similar enough to [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. But I know a little [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] and she just goes by [name_f]Rissa[/name_f]
which I think is a much cuter nickname for that. So I agree - [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is better on it’s own!
I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] works well enough as a name on it’s own it would be too hard to explain [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. They’ve both got the same may sound in there.
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Ismene[/name_f] and [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] seem like the most natural choices.
I know a girl named Maslin, though I don’t particularly find the name attractive you could easily have [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as a nickname. Otherwise any [name_f]Mary[/name_f] name. Here are some other ideas:
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Mozelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Moselle[/name_f]
If you think you’ll be calling her [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] all the time though I would just go with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. It is an established given name. Another thought that’s a little more indirect is to give her a first name that starts with a “Ma” and a middle name that starts with a Z. Seems like a little too much effort just to call a kid [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] but you might find something you love within that idea.
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] was originally a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] works as a given name but be prepared for some people (not a ton though) to mispronounce it as [name_f]Macy[/name_f].
I love names like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] that mean pearl, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] included. Although I’m not sure how you get [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. There’s only one name I know of that has the “Mais” in it, and that’s Maiselle (may-zell).
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is a pet form of [name_f]Mairead[/name_f], which is the Scottish form of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] works as a nickname for any name that starts with an M.
As people have said [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is derived from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], so any form of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I think is fair game, like, [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_f]Marjory[/name_f], Marsaili, [name_f]Marzena[/name_f], etc.
Some others that might get you [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamasin[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
[name_f]Mckenzie[/name_f]
[name_f]Melissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]
[name_f]Melisande[/name_f]
[name_f]Maelys[/name_f] is pretty and could be shortened to [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
