Maisie vs. Masie

Our front runner girls name if the moment is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. The way I want it to be pronounced is “[name_f]May[/name_f] see” but I have been noticing that there is a split in the way people say it. Some “may see” and others “may zee or maze ee”.
For whatever reason I don’t really care for the [name_f]Macy[/name_f] spelling and was thinking about dropping the first I and spelling it Masie, which isn’t a recognized name on this site.
To me this spelling doesn’t seem too creative or odd, I was just looking for some other thoughts on this spelling change.

Thanks!

To me it just looks like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] without the I and I woul say MAZE-ee like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] or Mazzy like Mazzy [name_f]Star[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] rule of thumb is to avoid confusion by using the most normal spelling I can. So I would choose [name_f]Macy[/name_f] if that’s what I want to hear people say.

Masie just makes me balk with confusion. it resembles Maise or Mazzy so of course those are my top two guesses. Sorry!

There is also the [name_u]Macey[/name_u] spelling that I have seen. Or even [name_f]Maci[/name_f] if you prefer. I do not think that the [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] spelling will cause too many problems because the may-zee’s I have met spell their names [name_f]Mazie[/name_f].

I would pronounce both [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and Masie as Mazzy. I probably wouldn’t even notice the missing “i”. Also if I heard the name [name_f]May[/name_f] see, I would assume the spelling was [name_f]Macy[/name_f].

If you really love the sound of [name_f]May[/name_f] see and dislike [name_f]Macy[/name_f], consider the spelling [name_f]Macie[/name_f].

Use [name_f]Macy[/name_f], [name_u]Macey[/name_u], or [name_f]Maci[/name_f] if you want that prn. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] should be prn with the Z sound.

I agree with boyandgirl. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is may-zee, not may-see. To get the pronunciation you’re looking for, you should spell it with the letter c.

I agree with others that [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is almost always pronounced [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-zee. If you don’t like [name_f]Macy[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Macie[/name_f] or [name_u]Macey[/name_u]? I don’t like [name_f]Maci[/name_f]; it’s too Teen Mom.

[name_f]May[/name_f] - see is [name_f]Macy[/name_f] / [name_u]Macey[/name_u] / [name_f]Macie[/name_f]

[name_f]May[/name_f] - zee is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]

Masie looks misspelled. I would probably say Mass - ee if I saw it.

[name_f]Remember[/name_f] that most people will hear her name before they see it.

Yes, [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] rhymes with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. You can emphasize the s but most of the time that s turns into a z. I would just assume Masie was an alternate spelling and pronounce it the same as [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I think you should embrace the z and stick with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]! I don’t like the look of [name_f]Macy[/name_f]/[name_u]Macey[/name_u]/[name_f]Maci[/name_f] so much either.

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] - rhymes with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-zee.
Masie - I guess I’d say it like [name_f]Macy[/name_f]? MASE-ee. But the spelling would make me wonder if you wanted it to be [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
I’d go with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] if you want the [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-zee prn and [name_f]Macy[/name_f], [name_f]Macie[/name_f] or [name_u]Macey[/name_u] (or if you must, [name_f]Maci[/name_f]) if you want MASE-ee.

Unsolicited opinion: I much prefer both the spelling and sound of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
