Major Dilemma!

So I have a son named [name]Kai[/name] (rhymes with [name]Ty[/name]) and my hubby and I had the name Akaia (Uh-ky-uh) picked out if he had come out a girl. I’m in love with the name and have only ever heard really positive reactions to the name. Question is are the names too much alike if we have a girl this time around? I’m 100% using it at least as a middle name but have been getting some slack for it being similar. Should I use the name I love or let it go?*Arial[/name] [name]Black[/name]]

Far too similar, I’m afraid you have to let it go.

For me, it would be too similar. Maybe you can get away with it being a middle name, but as a first name, they sounds way too close, and I could see [name]Kai[/name] being a nickname for Akaia so it would almost be hard not to call her that which would get comfusing

Yeah, they’re almost identical. I wouldn’t even put it in the middle.

Very similar in my view. It seems to me to be the equivalent of naming your children [name]George[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name], or [name]Ari[/name] and [name]Aria[/name].

In my opinion, it is a definite no. It actually contains your son’s name. That is way too close for me.

They are way too similar. [name]Kai[/name] can easily be a nickname for Akaia. Have you ever thought of [name]Amaya[/name]? It’s pronounced uh-my-uh. It’s very similar to Akaia, but not too similar to [name]Kai[/name].

If it were me, I would have to let it go. The name Akaia contains your son’s name (which I adore, by the way), making it too close for siblings. A few others that have the same feeling for me:

[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Aida[/name]
[name]Indira[/name]
[name]Caoimhe[/name] (pronounced kee-va)
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Neva[/name]
Amira

Good luck!

I have to agree, they are far too similar and it would get really confusing.
[name]Bree[/name]

Definitely time to let it go! It would work for a middle name, if you need to use it.

Too close. If you can’t let it go, I would use it as a middle.

Sadly, I have to agree with everyone else.
