Major disagreement with hubby and I!

Hubby and I have the perfect boys name picked out. He loves it, I love it, it’s unique. BUT, if we have a girl, we can’t agree on anything! This is our first child. I will list some names we each like. I also want her middle name to either be [name]Claire[/name], after my grandmother, or [name]Alaine[/name] which is my middle name, but our last name starts with a “D” so having a middle name A would eliminate a lot of the alphabet for her initials (HAD, DAD, BAD, etc…)

I like:
[name]Harbor[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Talia[/name]

Hubby likes:
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Madelyn[/name]

I like unique names and not trendy names. [name]Taylor[/name] is actually my husbands middle name. We cant agree at all! But w agreed on a boys name and it’s completely unique…any suggestions or opinions on these names?

Harbour - Wow, Wow, Wow! Just so uniquley gorgeous
Lyra - My favourite out the five. It’s just so beautiful.
Talia - Very Pretty.
Taylor - I prefer this as a boys name to be honest.
Madelyn - Not really my style. Sorry.

I suggest using maybe Iris or Leila (lee-luh) as a first name. I just think they’d so good with the midde name Claire. Also Leila is similar to Lyra so if you cant get your OH round Lyra maybe Leila could be another option? And Iris because it just gorgeous.

Not to choose sides, but I like your style way better than his. Would you be opposed to two middle names?

Not opposed to any suggestions  We have two middles names picked out for a boy. one is my dads name and the other is my hubby’s late grandfathers name. I like both [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Alaine[/name], but dont think they go well together, and I also like having unique first names and meaningful/family middle names

From your list…I prefer [name]Talia[/name] over the others. From his list…I prefer [name]Taylor[/name]. I like that it is his middle name and he’d like to share it with his daughter. I don’t really have any suggestions for you because the tastes are soo different. I’d pick…

[name]Talia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
or
[name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] (which will spell [name]TAD[/name] but there are worse words it could spell)

What about [name]Alaina[/name] [name]Claire[/name] instead of [name]Alaine[/name]? [name]Alaina[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] are on our list. Hubby and I like the name [name]Madelyn[/name], I think it is cute. Definitely like it way better than [name]Taylor[/name].(for either gender, although [name]Taylor[/name] would make a great middle for a boy I think.) [name]Alaina[/name] seems kind of like a middle ground name to me. Sort of more modern but you can do [name]Elana[/name] spelling to make it more classic. (not as close to your middle though).

The only name I like from your list is [name]Talia[/name]. Harbour opens her up for several teasing rhymes, Harbour’s a Bore, or Boar! ick.

[name]Harbor[/name] is fantastic. [name]Unique[/name] and gorgeous.
[name]Lyra[/name] is beautiful. It has such a musical golden quality.
[name]Talia[/name] is very pretty [name]Thalia[/name] (with that spelling) is on my list. It has a kind of richness of quality that I find attractive.

[name]Taylor[/name] I feel like this is so trendy and dated for a girl. I dont really like it much for a boy either but it’s better on a boy than a girl.
[name]Madelyn[/name] is nms at all although if I had to use it I prefer [name]Madeline[/name].

I was going to suggest this too!

You could also name her after both of you: [name]Alaine[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] D., or [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] D. if you prefer. I think it would be meaningful for her to have part of both of your names… especially because so few girls get part of their names from their dads.

P.S. I wouldn’t worry too much about initials, unless they spell something bad. My initials are [name]CAB[/name], and it has never been an issue (or even really noticed by most people).

I love the idea of [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name]! It’s adorable and uses both your middle names.
Other combos…

[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] D.
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] D.

It seems like your husband likes y names, or thats just a coincidence, either way, I like [name]Lyra[/name] with one of his name choices in the middle. I do think if you “win” on first name, you need to let him find a name he loves for the middle.

[name]Harbor[/name] [name]Madelyn[/name] D.
[name]Madelyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name] D.

Other thoughts:
[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Malina[/name]
[name]Truly[/name]
[name]Lynx[/name]
[name]Raina[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]

I don’t know how far along you are…but my husband and I both sort of grew fond of names that the other loved. We didn’t compromise (I don’t recommend compromising on a name!) but I warmed to a name that he loved for a girl, and he warmed to a name that I loved for a boy. So as long as none of the names on your differing lists are an absolute veto for you or for him, I would keep them in consideration while trying to find a name that you both love.

Some other ideas…

[name]Ashby[/name]
[name]Darby[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Michaela[/name]
[name]Isolde[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]

What if, since you are the girl, you choose the first name and give her 2 middle names, either [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Alaine[/name] and [name]Taylor[/name] or [name]Madelyn[/name]? It’s worth a shot.

I like [name]Talia[/name] [name]Madelyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] [name]Taylor[/name]
I like [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] a little bit better because it uses both you and your hubby’s middle names, I just think it sounds more meaningful, although so would your grandmothers middle name.
Good luck!!

I love both [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Talia[/name]. I like [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Talia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] best. Good luck!

[name]Maya[/name] or mia

I do like the combination of [name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name] or [name]Alaine[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] as a middle name since we are considering two middle names for a boy. It is hard to comprimise because hubby puts his foot down and say absolutely no to all of my names. I’m also picky because I don’t want trendy or popular…

Sounds like me and my fiance’ but I understand him, he had a friend that was badly teased so he’s not a fan of anything too unique. I think [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Taylor[/name] are my favorites on the list.

I agree with someone else though that if you do pick middles, he should have some say in the first name.

Suggestions:
[name]Taylor[/name] [name]Alaine[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Alaine[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Alaine[/name]

From your list, I like [name]Talia[/name] and [name]Lyra[/name] best. I also like [name]Madeline[/name]/[name]Madeleine[/name], but spelled like this.

If you like [name]Lyra[/name] and he likes [name]Taylor[/name], what about [name]Ayla[/name]?

Other suggestions you both might like:
[name]Mara[/name]
[name]Marla[/name]
[name]Leora[/name]
[name]Leona[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Coral[/name]
[name]Tamar[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Lara[/name]/[name]Laura[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Keira[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Elaina[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]

Hopefully one of these sparks something for you both. Good luck!

The only one I like is [name]Madelyn[/name], but I prefer [name]Madeleine[/name] (prn similarly) or [name]Madeline[/name]. I have a [name]Madeline[/name] (prnd -line at end) and let me tell you, it is uncommon. Everyone in our area, even with that spelling, prns it -lyn at the end. So you could go [name]Madeline[/name], and have it be a little more unique, or you could do [name]Madeleine[/name], and the spelling at least would be unique. Also I wouldn’t worry about the initials either too much. Growing up mine spelled SAT, and my sister’s were LET, and it was never an issue at all! In fact I was kind of proud mine spelled a word, however strange that may sound.
[name]Just[/name] saw pp suggested [name]Tessa[/name]…that sounds like a great suggestion! Maybe y’all can agree on that one?

[name]Madeline[/name] is my favorite from your list. [name]Love[/name] suggestion of [name]Alaina[/name] [name]Claire[/name].
