I used to love the name [name]Konrad[/name]. I read a book when i was 13 or 14 and the main character had the name and I loved it for years afterwards. I had sort of forgotten.about it until recentlly when i mentioned it to my husband a couple months ago and he fell in love with it! And I mean he LOVES it!
The trouble is that now i am sort of ‘over’ the name. He loves it so much and I really want to love it to! But it seems sort of trendy and out of place, like ssomething a celebrity would use.
[name]Conrad[/name] would look much better in my opinion. My husband also likes this name and would use it in a heartbeat! I don’t personally care for it. I prefer [name]Conner[/name]. Maybe you could use [name]Konrad[/name] in the middle if you can’t love it again? I think it would make a good, strong middle name choice.
My husband loves [name]Konrad[/name]. When I say it I think of Comrade, so when paired with a middle name, like [name]Joseph[/name], for instance, it sounds like Comrade [name]Joseph[/name] and I’m just reminded of Soviet [name]Russia[/name].
I think it works better in the middle spot, but even then I can’t love it. So I don’t think I’m the right one to help you love it. Still, I feel like sharing my way of dealing with my husband’s [name]LOVE[/name] of [name]Konrad[/name]. My husband hears a name like [name]Oscar[/name] and he “likes” it, but tell him “Oh, did I mention I meant with a ‘k’ instead of a ‘c’”, and suddenly it’s the best thing he has ever heard. He comes from [name]German[/name] heritage and he is very [name]German[/name] that way. So now I have him away from [name]Konrad[/name] a little bit and liking [name]Oskar[/name], which I feel works better for us.
Too funny, my husband is the exact same way! Doesnt like [name]Conrad[/name] but LOVES [name]Konrad[/name]. He loves the ‘k’ for some reason! I think it is a pretty substantial name which is why Id love to love it again!
It’s my husband’s (and FIL’s) name and will be the first name for a future son. There has been one every generation for 1000 years in my husband’s very [name]German[/name] (Prussian) family. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]German[/name] names. [name]Konrad[/name] is historically very significant and noteworthy. My husband’s ancestor of the same name is one of the 16 advisors to [name]Frederick[/name] the Great who is depicted on the Alte [name]Fritz[/name] statue on the famous boulevard in [name]Berlin[/name], Unter den [name]Linden[/name]. I love that connection! It is below the radar, unlike [name]Oskar[/name] (which I do like but is increasingly popular). We love the “k”, too. Daughter’s first name is [name]Benedikte[/name].
I definitely don’t think [name]Conrad[/name] is trendy-- quite the opposite. It’s a realistic choice for an average non-celebrity family, but it’s uncommon and striking. It’s nice to see name-love from a dude; I’d say go with it! Particularly as it fits in with your Polish interests.
I love love that name! Although I prefer it spelled as [name]Conrad[/name], I don’t mind that spelling. Its a name that works well throughout someone’s whole life, not just as a child. I sounds very masculine. Either spelling isn’t very popular at all, and I would not consider it trendy. I also like the name [name]Conner[/name] a lot for the same reasons, but I prefer [name]Conrad[/name] because it is less popular. If I remember correctly, the name “[name]Conrad[/name]” means brave, which is a nice meaning too
I love the name [name]Conrad[/name]! And if the spelling [name]Konrad[/name] makes your husband happy and/or has more meaning to your family, go for it! It’s a gorgeous name.
