Maksim, Rory, and Vivek - Opinions

As the title states, I’d really love your thoughts and opinions on these three names!

[name]Love[/name]? Hate? Remind you of someone? Who do you imagine with the name? Etc.

Thanks!

First, quick impressions:

[name]Maksim[/name] seems a mispelling of [name]Maxim[/name].
I have always found [name]Rory[/name] very difficult to say, and have only known this name on girls.
Vivek? Sounds incomplete or looks like an attempt to masculinize [name]Viveca[/name].

Not a real fan of any of them, and they seem rather disparate stylistically. If I had to choose among the three, I would chose Vivek but how would you pronounce this?

Vih-vek. It’s [name]Indian[/name]. (Sorry, I’m bad at writing out phonetics)

I quite like [name]Maksim[/name] but it would probably attract spelling issues, [name]Maxim[/name] would probably be easier.
I know a 10 year old [name]Rory[/name]. He’s a quiet and happy boy. I also know a 20 year old [name]Rory[/name], who is quite similar. To me it’s a fun and relaxed name, though I struggle to imagine it on an older man.
I know one Vivek, but don’t have the best association with the name. I on’t mind the name, but much prefer your other two choices.
My favourite is [name]Maxim[/name]/ [name]Maksim[/name]

I think I definitely prefer the [name]Maxim[/name] spelling - it seems more classic and less dated than [name]Maksim[/name]. [name]Rory[/name] - I’ve only ever heard of girls being given this name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Ronan[/name] for a more masculine sounding Celtic name with a similar feel. I have no opinion on Vivek.

[name]Rory[/name] is my favorite from those, and I much prefer it for a boy! The others are okay but not my style.

[name]Maksim[/name]: I know a kid with this name who goes by [name]Max[/name]. He’s really funny and made a good impression on me with this name. But, my only issue is that it seems too much like [name]Maxim[/name], the magazine, which I don’t think is the best connotation. I love the nickname [name]Max[/name] though, and I think it’s a good choice. While it’s very Russian, using the nickname [name]Max[/name] makes it more accessible to everyone.

[name]Rory[/name]: I really love this name, for both a boy or a girl, but lately I’ve loved it more so for a girl. While I like [name]Rory[/name], my only issue is with the pronunciation. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I have a somewhat difficult time saying [name]Rory[/name] with the two R’s so close together. [name]Rowan[/name] or [name]Ronan[/name] might also be a nice choice.

Vivek: I know the nicest, smartest, wittiest guy with this name. To me, it draws to mind a vegan, [name]Indian[/name] kid with glasses who is always cracking smart jokes. But that’s just because of the Vivek I know. I really like the name and I can see the appeal of it, but I’d be wary of using it if you aren’t [name]Indian[/name] at all, because there might be lots of questions as to why your kid is named that.

My favorite is probably [name]Maksim[/name], with the nickname [name]Max[/name].

I just wanted to strengthen my first post:

PLEASE don’t go with [name]Maksim[/name]. I also have overaly strong connotations of [name]Maxim[/name] the magazine. If you want to get to [name]Max[/name], use [name]Maxwell[/name] or Maximilliam.

I like Vivek more and more. Is the first syllable a short “eh” sound like the E in Exclaim? Or a long “ee” like EAsy?

It’s more like the exclaim.

[name]Rory[/name] for me is not at all girl. It’s very Irish and means ‘red king’. I like [name]Rowan[/name] more than [name]Ronan[/name], but I love [name]Rory[/name] more than either. I think I’d go with something completely different over something similar to [name]Rory[/name].

I want to second neuilly’s suggestions of [name]Rowan[/name] or [name]Ronan[/name]. Or even [name]Roy[/name]. Or [name]Roland[/name].

I don’t know why, but the double R sound in [name]Rory[/name] makes me feel like I’m starting to choke.

[name]Maksim[/name] makes me think of the men’s magazine. Personally, I wouldn’t want my son’s name to relate to that…
I like [name]Rory[/name], but I think of it as a girl’s name because of [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls.
Vivek- I’ve never heard it, and I’m not fond of it. I think it sounds nice, but it would be hard for people to spell and there are some teasing opportunities. (vivica, vivian, vivacious… on and on)

[name]Maksim[/name]: I prefer [name]Maxim[/name], it’s a nice sounding name.
[name]Rory[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rory[/name], if I was having a son right now I would seriously consider the name [name]Rory[/name]. I have only met boys with this name.
Vivek: I think this name sounds kind of cool. Not really my style.

Really humble and smart guy at my office named Vivek - I’m a fan.
