Malin?

Any thoughts on the name [name_u]Malin[/name_u]?
What do you think of when you hear it?
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it?
It’s been growing on me. I seem to keep coming back to it to think about, but I’m still unsure.

I would assume MAYL-inn, then [name_u]Mal[/name_u]-inn or Mahl-inn? I wouldn’t be sure. It fits in just fine with other names that are popular these days, but I can’t say I love it. Both the pronunciation and gender are ambiguous, and “-in” names sound like -ing words to me: Keep that dog from maulin’ me while I’m mailin’ this letter. For sound alone, I much prefer [name_f]Marin[/name_f], but I do think [name_u]Malin[/name_u] is totally usable if you like it.

I love [name_u]Malin[/name_u] so much! I always hear it pronounced [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_u]Lyn[/name_u]. I’m a big fan of short names in general so I’m biased. I dunno feels like [name_u]Malin[/name_u] could be an any type of person.

Any thoughts on the name [name_u]Malin[/name_u]? First time I see it. I thought it was a male name, sorry… but [name_u]Malin[/name_u] would work in girl too.

What do you think of when you hear it? Normal. Though, it’s different, isn’t weird to my ears.

[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it? Mah -leen

I love it. I pronounce it [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-lynn. Reminds me of the lovely [name_u]Malin[/name_u] Akerman, but I think she pronounces it MAH-lynn.

[name_u]Malin[/name_u] is a gorgeous, frill-free Scandinavian choice. I really like it.

I pronounce it the Swedish way.

I have a Swedish friend with this name and I really like it .

I say it like “MAH-lin”

If she would have more international contact worth knowing that in french the word with this spelling means bad/sneaky.

In other languages it has other meanings though so no need to worry unless you have contact with [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that is helpful

The Malins I’ve met pronounce like Mah-lynn (but with a Swedish accent lol)

MAH-lin. Seems like a boy’s name to me.

I would pronounce it [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-lin. Although I know there is an actress with this name, I have quite a few male ancestors and family members with this name, so I automatically think of it as masculine.

I don’t know what gender I see it belonging to… It reminds me of ‘Stalin’ and I pronounce it as rhyming with Stalin.

I would say Mah-lynn and I think about “Tumeur Maligne” which is a cancer :frowning:

I agree!
But maybe your kid will travel. You never know

The name has really grown of me recently. I like it a lot and think it’s cute and unique. I pronounce it Mah-lin.
