Lately I have been liking [name]Mallory[/name] a lot. Meanings don’t really matter to me, but this name’s meaning is one of the worst.
[name]Valerie[/name] sounds similar and I like the nn [name]Val[/name]. I do not care for [name]Mal[/name] as a nn for [name]Mallory[/name] though.
Which name do you like better?
I definitely prefer [name]Valerie[/name]. It sounds more like a first name, and I love the [name]Amy[/name] Winehouse song. So catchy.
[name]Valerie[/name] for sure!
I much prefer [name]Valerie[/name]. It feels more timeless, while [name]Mallory[/name] feels more like an early 90s name to me.
I like [name]Mallory[/name]. I know a [name]Mallory[/name] and we call her [name]Mal[/name], but you could easily call her [name]Mallory[/name].
[name]Valerie[/name]: Yes a bit dated, but still quite pretty. I agree with pp, love the [name]Amy[/name] Winehouse song. I wouldnt be a bit surprised if [name]Valerie[/name] came back huge in the future.
[name]Mallory[/name]: Also has the dated feel, but personally, for some reason I cannot separate from the Babysitters Club character who seemed to have perpetually horrible luck in life.
I prefer [name]Mallory[/name]. It feels more youthful, more spunky, more fun to me. [name]Valerie[/name] feels stuffy to me and I’m not a fan of the nickname [name]Val[/name] at all (reminds me of the [name]Joan[/name] [name]Van[/name] Ark character on Knots Landing).
[name]Mallory[/name] is one of the few modern names that I don’t despise, but [name]Valerie[/name] is 10x better.
[name]Valerie[/name] over [name]Mallory[/name] for me. No question. [name]Mallory[/name] just reminds me of the Babysitters Club, and tbh it’s one of those names where the more I look at it the more it doesn’t even look like a name. I think I’d even prefer [name]Melody[/name]?
I also really love [name]Mallory[/name]! It doesn’t feel dated to me since it has such a [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]-y feel to me! I really dislike [name]Valerie[/name] though. Sounds like an 80’s secretary to me!
[name]Valerie[/name] is defiantly my favourite

I like [name]Mallory[/name] a million times better than [name]Valerie[/name], but it looks like I’m in the minority on this one. All the Valeries I know are in their 50s and that makes it a “mom” name for me. I only know one [name]Mallory[/name], and she’s about 4, so it seems more current to me.
I like [name]Valery[/name] for a boy, and [name]Valeria[/name] for a girl.
This is tough because I really prefer [name]Mallory[/name] (and think [name]Molly[/name] would also work as a nn as well as [name]May[/name]) but I am obsessed with the song [name]Valerie[/name] by [name]Amy[/name] Winehouse. [name]Even[/name] though both sound dated [name]Mallory[/name] just sounds a little more buttoned up/preppy but pretty and less [name]Valley[/name] girl (which [name]Valerie[/name] reminds me a bit of). That being said I have met Valeries I have liked and heard it more than [name]Mallory[/name] but still prefer [name]Mallory[/name] (I too considered this name and such a shame about the meaning but it still sounds beautiful to me!)
My SO prefers [name]Valerie[/name] because his one of his favorite show’s 90210. But I personally prefer [name]Mallory[/name].
(I also love [name]Amy[/name] Winehouse’s catchy song too.)
I have a soft-spot for [name]Valerie[/name]! [name]Mallory[/name] makes me think of the ditzy older sister on Family Ties.
I don’t really [name]LOVE[/name] either, they seem very 80’s. I prefer the sound of [name]Mallory[/name], although the meaning isn’t something I would want to bear on a child.
[name]Valerie[/name]…
I like [name]Valerie[/name]
I actually really like both of them! I definitely like [name]Mallory[/name] a lot more though. It comes off as very spunky, cute and feminine to me. While [name]Valerie[/name] is just as adorable, it may come off as a bit snobby to me. [name]Both[/name] are great choices though so you can’t go wrong!
