You have potentially heard the story of Orpheus, the man who descended into the Underworld to rescue his wife’s soul. He will be in my story among the Argonauts, and his story will have a happier ending than he got in the Myths, but which form of his name should I go with?

If you’re going to write him ‘accurately’ then his original name. If it’s like an alt universe and not as accurate (and he’ll be heavily inspired by, rather than the actual character) then I’d go for Pherus.
