Is Maple awesome or rediculous? I’m Canadian!
I wonder if it might get confused for [name]Mabel[/name]?
It’s a bit out there that’s for sure!
I like [name]Mabel[/name]. Maple would be cute for a middle name.
For a Canadian, I have to say that I think the name verges on the ridiculous. I mean, isn’t the Maple leaf kind of a national symbol? If I were you, I’d pick another tree name.
I think it would make a lovely middle name. Not so keen on it as a first name though.
I once made a combo with 6 names (that’s F-I-V-E middle names) when I was a lot younger, and Maple was one of the names. I think it’s weird because I was weird when I did it. I don’t remember all the rest of the names, [name]Iris[/name] was one of them, though. That’s not too weird (it kind of was at the time). I love trees, and I love Maple trees, their twirly-bird seeds, and I love the name [name]Mabel[/name], but Maple is kind of strange. I think it is the -ple part that makes it weird, not the fact that it’s the name of a tree. Purple is a pretty color but it sounds like Purr-pul, I don’t like the sound of it, namewise.
I agree with others that it would make a sweet mn, not so keen on it for a first though. [name]Mabel[/name] is lovely though:)

It reminds me of [name]Mabel[/name], but I think it’s awesome! It IS out there for most, but I think it’s really cute and also has potential for sophistication later in life. I never thought of that name before…nice one!
I’m Canadian, too, and I think it would be really weird. In fact, it would be slightly less weird in my mind if you were from somewhere else.
It’s not that the sound is bad (though it does remind me of Miss Marple), but the implicit nationalism (or maybe Leafs fandom?) is just not subtle enough. If I ran into a kid named Maple, I’d probably wonder about the parents’ sanity.
If you’re really stuck on using Maple, you could probably get away with it as a middle name–but please don’t use it as a first!
As a middle name yes, but not as first name…
It’s FABULOUS! Very cute and different. It is one of my favorite up and coming “nature names.” I actually wrote an article on this very one.

Unlike so many people that have posted, I believe personally that this would be a wonderful name for a baby girl, first or middle name! I’m Canadian too and if this hypothetical ‘baby girl’ were to grow in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] there would be lots of understanding. I think that maybe in other countries this name wouldn’t be as accepted but it’s not outrageous! I think others are being too harsh. I would actually rather have this as a first name than a middle name. It would be odd to have such a lovely nature-like name as a middle name for me.
I don’t hate it! I do think it would get confused with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] a lot. I would probably have to be introduced to a little [name_f]Maple[/name_f] more than once.
