So we’ve discovered that we’re having a baby boy due in [name]March[/name], and so far our top runner (one that both my husband and I can agree on!) is [name]Sullivan[/name]. My husband has Irish roots, and I like that it’s not too common yet not totally out there either. Plus I can picture my little Sulli running around
Anways, we’ve been discussing middle names recently and I’m thinking that a one syllable middle would sound best with our last name ([name]Power[/name]). My husband suggested his name, [name]Glynn[/name], since this is our first born son. [name]Do[/name] you think that has too much of an “n” sound though? I’d love to hear some suggestions for a middle name that flows!
I think the [name]Glynn[/name] is rhymey with the van part of [name]Sullivan[/name]…however i do like using fam names in the middle. Could you use you husbands middle name? If not, d go ahead and use itin this situation since middles aren’t often used.
Yes, [name]Sullivan[/name] and [name]Glynn[/name] both end with an ‘n’. However, they work together well, and I think a middle name with meaning is always the best option.
By the way, I love the nn Sulli! [name]How[/name] adorable!
My husband’s middle name is his father’s name, [name]Michael[/name], which I love. His sister chose [name]Michael[/name] for her son’s middle though, so would it be weird to copy? Or could it be looked at like a tradition since all the boy’s have the middle name [name]Michael[/name]?
I like it! [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name] should be fine and I would hope that [name]SIL[/name] wouldn’t be upset - after all, it is your DH’s name I actually think [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Glynn[/name] works pretty well for having the same -n ending. The sounds are different enough to make it not too samey in my opinion.
[name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name] flows easier than [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Glyn[/name]. I don’t see a problem using the same middle name as your nephews. My [name]MIL[/name] married a [name]Joseph[/name] and her father’s name is also [name]Joseph[/name] and her brother [name]Joseph[/name]. They named my hubby [name]Joseph[/name] III and a couple years later her brother named his son [name]Joseph[/name] III… sure different middle and last names but oh so many Joes! I really don’t see a problem with the middle names being the same, especially when honoring not just your DH but your FIL as well!
I prefer [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. Flows a lot nicer.
Maybe you could use [name]Glynn[/name] as a middle name if you ever have another boy.
[name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name] is really great! I absolutely love the name [name]Sullivan[/name]. I think that [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Glynn[/name] is awkward to say outloud, too much “n” sound.
I too prefer the flow of [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name] over [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Glenn[/name]. Perhaps if you still wanted to honor your husband but save his name for a second child’s middle, you could just use the same initial and get something like [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Graham[/name] or [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Grant[/name]? Good luck! =]
I love [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name] [name]Power[/name]! Sounds perfect I think its nice to have [name]Michael[/name] as a family tradition too!
Congrats! I`m also expecting a boy at end of [name]March[/name] x
Using [name]Michael[/name] as a middle name shouldn’t be a problem, since neither will be going by that name. I think it would only be confusing if they were both called by the same name. If you’re concerned though, you could run it by them and make sure there will be no hard feelings.
Thanks guys! I’m really loving the sound and flow of [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Michael[/name], and my husband likes it too! Plus, it’s even more special because our son will be the only one to carry on the [name]Power[/name] last name, so I think it’s nice if we honour his grandfather by using [name]Michael[/name] as his middle
