Maren, Merrin

Hello! I have been thinking of the name [name_f]Merrin[/name_f]. I really like it!! For some reason [name_f]Maren[/name_f] looks girl to me, and [name_f]Merrin[/name_f] looks boy (although I could see it on a girl). On Australian Baby Names it says that it is an Austalian boy’s name. From what I have seen on nameberry it is only a girls name. I have never personally heard it on a boy or a girl, so maybe that is why I can see [name_f]Merrin[/name_f] on a boy. I guess it reminds me of [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], but I like the softer feel. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it sounds too girlish for a boy? Are there any other “Mer” boy names that you know of or like? Thanks!!

I just saw this description on nameberry:

“St [name_f]Merryn[/name_f] was a male Cornish saint and the name was traditionally given to boys.”

So I guess that does answer my question if it could be used as a boy name, but what do you think?

I think [name_f]Merrin[/name_f] could work for a boy. It doesn’t feel girlish to me.

[name_u]Mercer[/name_u] and [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] are my favorite “merc” names.

[name_f]Polina[/name_f] thanks for your input! I have never thought of those names before and they do appeal to me.

I think [name_f]Merrin[/name_f]/[name_f]Merryn[/name_f] could definitely work on a boy
