I voted for [name]Claire[/name] but truly I think you can’t go wrong. Would you ever use [name]Annie[/name] for [name]Anna[/name]? I think [name]Anna[/name] is fine with [name]Jane[/name] but [name]Annie[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are precious. It’s definitely okay to have a nn for one child and not the other. [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are also great together, as are [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] :). Great names - good luck!
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]
I love all of your names so you can’t go wrong with any of them. With [name]Jane[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], I would rate the names as follows.
1 [name]Claire[/name]- [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Anneliese[/name] for a mn that way you could sort of get [name]Anna[/name] in there too! [name]Claire[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name] is another option.
2 [name]Anna[/name] - Maybe [name]Anna[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]?
3 [name]Margaret[/name] - If you choose [name]Margaret[/name], I would pick a shorter mn. [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Rose[/name]?
The only one I wouldn’t use is [name]Anna[/name]. Not only do they sould similar, they share similar meanings (“grace” and “God’s grace”); although it could be a sweet connection if you are so inclined.
I picked [name]Margaret[/name] because I think it is similar in style, but not too similar, so they each get their “own” name (if that makes any sense). [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] are very sweet together.
I like all three names, but I think [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] go better with [name]Jane[/name]. I like [name]Claire[/name], personally I just feel like it’s a more contemporary name, while [name]Anna[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], and [name]Jane[/name] all sound like they belong in the same era.
I don’t think [name]Anna[/name] sounds too similar to [name]Jane[/name], and I think it’s nice that they have similar name meanings. Personally, [name]Anna[/name] is my pick over the other too. I also don’t think it’s such a big deal that [name]Margaret[/name] will be nn [name]Maggie[/name]. I guess if [name]Jane[/name] wanted a nn you could always call her [name]Jay[/name] or [name]Janie[/name] as well, if she seems bothered.
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]
I think [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] work great together.
[name]Jane[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] match better, but I think the others work beautifully as well, and I don’t think you should ever pick a name primarily because it matches a siblings.
I think my favorite of the 3 is [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] work well but are both special and pretty but don’t outshine each other.
I voted for [name]Anna[/name]! It is by far my favorite of the three and I think it matches [name]Jane[/name] well. I do not think they are too similar in sound. I like [name]Claire[/name] but I’m not crazy about it and [name]Jane[/name] together. [name]Margaret[/name] is okay…but [name]Margaret[/name] NINELETTERS is a big name for a little girl to learn to spell.
You didn’t have any mns listed…but may I suggest [name]Anna[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] with [name]Jane[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]?
I, too, like pp think that [name]Clara[/name] would be perfect with [name]Jane[/name]. I do like [name]Claire[/name], too, however. I love [name]Clara[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] (that will probably be my next dd name:-)
My suggestion would be to use [name]Anne[/name]. I think it would be perfect with [name]Jane[/name]. Classic and beautiful.
[name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Anna[/name] is cute but it doesn’t really “go” with [name]Jane[/name] in my opinion. I definitely don’t think they sound “too similar” though.
[name]Just[/name] saw suggestions for [name]Clara[/name] and totally agree. It sounds great with [name]Jane[/name]!
I vote for [name]Claire[/name]! It’s classy and a strong one-syllable name like [name]Jane[/name]. I know someone in their 50s named [name]Claire[/name], so it feels much more classic than contemporary to me. (Also, [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] happen to be the middle names of my twin sister and I.)
[name]Clara[/name] is wonderful too!!
Thank you for all of the wonderful suggestions!
Here is a complicating factor - we’d like to use the name [name]Catherine[/name] somehow. We can’t use it as a first name, because unfortunately, we share the last name of someone very well-known. Is [name]Margaret[/name] C/katherine too much (if not - which spelling do you like - C or K?)? Keep in mind, our last name is fairly long. Does [name]Claire[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] sound awful? [name]Anna[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] is gorgeous, but my husband doesn’t really like the name [name]Anna[/name] (it’s on our list b/c he’ll go with it if I insist).
Any additional thoughts/suggestions? We really appreciate it!
Thank you!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Meg[/name] or [name]Maggie[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]? [name]Both[/name] are shorter versions of [name]Margaret[/name] so would work well with [name]Jane[/name], and sound nice with the longer, more formal [name]Catherine[/name].
