Margaret Jane - classic or tired?

I have a multi-faceted question, so hang in there!

We are expecting a baby girl this [name_u]August[/name_u], who will be a little sister to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. We were always in love with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] because it is classic and beautiful, but a little quirky and had great nickname options. We love a name with lots nicknames and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] often goes by [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] gets tons of compliments on her name and I think it is very memorable.

Right now, my husband and I are really loving [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for baby #2. In my opinion, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is another classically beautiful name and also has great nickname options. We especially love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Midge[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has a similar feel to [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], which I really like.

I’m worried that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] doesn’t have the same “wow factor” that [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has - that perhaps it’s a little tired and less memorable. My name is [name_u]Casey[/name_u], which is a fairly typical, 80’s name. It’s not that I dislike my name, but I have never had anyone compliment my name, nor do I think it is very memorable. And it’s not that I necessarily need others to think my daughter’s name is beautiful, but I’d like for it to be unique and memorable. I’m not sure if [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] quite hits that mark.

I do love that [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] go well together, but I have to keep reminding myself that sib-set names matter more when children are younger, and less and less as they get older and have separate lives.

A close second choice for baby #2 is [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. I have loved this name for quite some time and my husband is pretty taken with it too. We like the nickname [name_f]Immy[/name_f] and like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as a possible middle. I think [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is more adventurous and quirky and I think it’s quite beautiful.

I’d love to hear your opinions on [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and if you think it can stand up to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. And what about [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]? And do you have any other suggestions that I perhaps haven’t thought of?
