One of my next questions was going to be if [name_f]Margot[/name_f] could be a stand along name, so I’m glad you think so! I really love the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f], equally as much as [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], if not maybe slightly more. I’m happy to hear that you think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] could still be used as a nickname. I was afraid it would be like using a nickname on a nickname and that might strange. I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is still very nice - I’m going to consider this one!
I know - [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is so quirky, I just love it! I know some people who find it quite clunky, but it just grabs me! Still a strong second place. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is not quite my style, although I do find it very sweet.
What are your thoughts on [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a stand along name. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]?
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nd [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] just melt me - I think they are so cute together! And [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are such sweet affectionate little names. I think that’s why I just keep coming back to this combo…
Yes, I do feel that it is nice to have an “important” name to fall back on! Especially as she ages. But I don’t know, I’m 33 and I feel like I would still rock the name [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] if my name were [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]! I also really love [name_f]Margot[/name_f], which to me seems just a bit more mature than [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. But it sure is nice to have options!
What do you think about [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a stand alone name? [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]?
As a side note, [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a middle is getting SOOOOOOO popular, at least in my circle of friends. It doesn’t bother me too much, as I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and it was my Dad’s Mom’s name, so I will likely still use it. But man, it has really taken off!
I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] to [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I do find [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] plain, I see those two names suggested on this forum all the time. There’s a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] thread above yours too. It’s just saturated for me! [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Margot[/name_f] have a little more personality with sister [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and originally had it on my top names list, but recently DH and I changed it to [name_f]Margot[/name_f] because [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] just wasn’t clicking and didn’t have the same spark that other names on our list did. I have never been a huge fan of [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], so of the two I’d go for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] personally, but really think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] would be cute, too. I definitely think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] stands perfectly fine on it’s own. I know it’s used as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I don’t think it sounds much like a nickname, actually. Not like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] does. I honestly don’t get the connection with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], but if [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] works for you for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], it’ll still work just fine for [name_f]Margot[/name_f], too. =]
I really like [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but really dislike [name_f]Immy[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] together. I’m also not sure what you would use as a middle for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] doesn’t flow well. I think that something like [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] would go nicely. I can’t think of any appealing alternate nicknames for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but I don’t think it really needs one. Maybe Imma?
Oh my gosh, [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are so perfect together!
I agree that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] doesn’t have as much oomph as [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Perhaps [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]…?
Matilda and Imogen are beautiful together. However, I have to disagree on Margaret - I think it’s a gorgeous, gorgeous name that would really stand out on a young girl, and the nn Maisie is lovely. I’m not such a fan of Matilda because I feel like I hear it a lot, and I’ve heard of more Matildas than Margarets. I definitely feel however that Jane doesn’t do much for Margaret - something like Margaret Ivy, Margaret Ophelia, Margaret Elowen, Margaret Linnea, Margaret Viola, Margaret Snow, even Margaret June, which only changes one letter, would give Margaret more ‘oomph’ . . . otherwise, Marigold, Magnolia, Magdalene, Marian / Maryam, Morgana, Mariana, Morwenna, Merewen, Melisande, Melusine, Marguerite, Margery, Margaretta, Margalit, Marilla, Marielle, Minerva, Miranda, Marcheline, Martina, Miriam, Marisol, Mariposa, and Mabel are similar-sounding names, some of which could give you the Maisie nickname.
I agree with this. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] are very cute together (and I love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]), but [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] and Immie almost clash to my ear. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] also doesn’t have the flow of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] a lot – would you still call her [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] then, or just [name_f]Margot[/name_f]?
