Though I like [name]Martha[/name] a lot and am not a fan of either [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Mary[/name], you have made a brilliant case for either of the latter, so will have a well-named child whatever you decide. Congrats!
[name]Mary[/name] has been well received. Her full name is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Clare[/name] and we primarily call her both names although I almost prefer sweet and simple [name]Mary[/name]. But we get lots of positive feedback on her name! She is only one, so it will be interesting when she is in school. She will likely be the only [name]Mary[/name] which I would love!
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is lovely. [name]Clementine[/name] is zesty and fun, but also in keeping with your desire for a name that reflects your Christianity ([name]Clementine[/name] is a feminization of [name]Clement[/name], a name belonging to many popes and saints. It means gentle, merciful.)
Maybe Iâm odd but I donât see why you canât use them all, unless of course for the obvious â[name]Mar[/name]â theme. It might be confusing but cute nn would fix that problem. [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Marta[/name] or [name]Martie[/name] would be adorable!
If you are set on using only one, my vote is for [name]Mary[/name]. There is so much history with that name, not to mention that itâs simple and elegant. People may say itâs common, but in this day and age itâs really not.
Thanks again, ladies!
@m2mom - [name]Glad[/name] to hear it! And [name]Mary[/name] [name]Clare[/name] is beautiful! Again, if you donât mind me asking, what is your other daughterâs name? I worry that a lot of classic names will sound like [name]Mary[/name]'s second name when it is in fact her sisterâs name. We love the name [name]Jane[/name], for example, but when I called them ("[name]Mary[/name]! [name]Jane[/name]!") it would sound a little too much like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name], wouldnât it?
@anajo - I suppose all three could be used together - the sounds seem different enough - but the â[name]Mar[/name]â theme does bother us. I feel that is takes away from a childâs individuality and the namesâ beauty. Plus, weâd like to avoid repeating initials.
[name]Martha[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are two of my favorites! [name]Both[/name] sound fabulous with your sonsâ names, so you canât go wrong! [name]Mary[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is absolutely stunning; [name]Clementine[/name] is my daughter [name]Cora[/name]'s middle name.
[name]Margaret[/name], on the other hand, seems very boring to me. I know 4 under the age of 6.
@[name]Teddy[/name]'smom - My other daughter is [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]. The repeated initials was not intentional, we just liked the names! [name]Maeve[/name] was my choice and hubby agreed, whereas [name]Mary[/name] was more his choice and I agreed! [name]Mary[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] would be beautiful! By the way, we couldnât agree on a nn for [name]Margaret[/name] and worried about just calling her the formal [name]Margaret[/name] always, even though we love it. In the end, I think that was the deal breaker for [name]Margaret[/name]!
