i used to prefer [name_f]Margo[/name_f] over [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but then after writing them down next to each other i think the t fills and completes the name a bit more

I don’t have much of a preference on spelling but suggesting [name_f]Mar[/name_f] or “M” ("[name_f]Em[/name_f]" or “[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]”) for nicknames!

I love the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling. For some reason the “t” drives me insane.

I’ve always preferred with the -t. Something about [name_f]Margo[/name_f] just looks incomplete to me.

I love [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Madge[/name_f], [name_f]Midge[/name_f], and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] for [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I prefer the [name_f]Margot[/name_f] spelling, it’s the most familiar and I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] looks incomplete. With [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Robbie[/name_u]'s fame, the probability of someone pronouncing [name_f]Margot[/name_f] wrong is slim.

Thank you all! I am glad you all like it.

I get what you mean about [name_f]Margo[/name_f] looking incomplete. I like that is simple but it does look like it has been cut off short. I think we’ll likely go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] if we chose the name, even though sometimes I prefer [name_f]Margo[/name_f] (I go back and forth all the time), as I think most people would spell it [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

We had a simialr dilemma with Dashel as I preferred the spelling [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] but my husband would only accept the name Dashel and I loved it too much to let it go. I wish I’d pushed [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] more now as even though the name is still fairly uncommon, the [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] spelling is more well known. So I think for that reason we’ll go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] if we use the name.

I love the nickname suggestions too. A few I hadn’t thought of myself. [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] and [name_f]Midge[/name_f] are both adorable.

Both are fine but I’d go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] because it’s more likely to be spelt that way. She’ll probably have to spell it out to people but anyone familiar with the name would likely spell it [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Margot[/name_f] for you! Dashel, [name_f]Junia[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a perfect sibset.

I actually really like the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling. It’s really simplistic and pretty. I don’t see it as incomplete and I also fear if [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is too close to maggot in terms of spelling, and like a previous poster said the ‘t’ drives me crazy! I find the [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] spelling beautiful as well BUT I feel like it comes across as way too pretentious in real life.

I’ve known two girls named [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and one named [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. None named [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. It might be the most common spelling but I don’t necessarily think it’s the go-to. I don’t mind the T spelling but I much prefer the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling. It looks sleeker and spunkier. Also, part of me still wants to say mar-got even though I know how it’s supposed to be said.

I like [name_f]Meg[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

Go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. It’s the spelling that’s coming back to use, probably because of [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], and it will stop lots of confusion later down the track (“No, spelt without a “T””). Also [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is very connected to Despicable Me, and since it’s still a bit current, it might be an issue (Probably not though.)

I prefer [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. Possible nicknames:

[name_m]Argo[/name_m]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_f]Marge[/name_f]
[name_f]Margie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mare[/name_f]
GoGo
Gotti

I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but [name_f]Margo[/name_f] seems to be your preference plus it avoids any pronunciation issues, so I’d go with that.

[name_u]Mo[/name_u], [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] could be nicknames

I’m definitely biased because I have a [name_f]Margot[/name_f]! But it just looks incomplete to me without the t - like you don’t know how to spell it, even though I know it’s a legit spelling.

She does get it mispronounced, but tbh mainly at the doctor’s surgery. It’s no big deal, you only have to correct it once.

I think both are nice, though I do prefer [name_f]Margo[/name_f] because [name_f]Margot[/name_f], no matter how hard I try for it not to, makes me think maggot, which needless to say, isn’t a pleasant association.

I also think, as you have Dashel (compromise for your [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] love), [name_f]Margo[/name_f] fits in well with both him, and [name_f]Junia[/name_f].

My vote for nickname goes to [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. [name_u]Dash[/name_u], [name_f]Juni[/name_f] & [name_f]Meg[/name_f] sound lovely together.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to play devil’s advocate, my preferred spelling is actually [name_f]Margaux[/name_f].
I find [name_f]Margo[/name_f] looks incomplete, and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] make me think of maggot.
