Margot, Madeline/leine, Morgan?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], any thoughts on which of these M names for our baby girl due next month? Big brother is [name_u]Reid[/name_u]. Last name is three syllables beginning with hard C/K sound. We are in the US.

[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]

I’m concerned about the pronunciation discrepancies with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/Madeleine (I like either -line/rhymes with dine or -len/rhymes with zen but would commit to one way of saying it) and how common [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] seems, but I do like the name overall!

Thanks in advance!

Margot is beautiful international and feminine!

I also like [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] but I feel that it would be perceived as masculine with brother [name_u]Reid[/name_u]

I have the same issues with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] as you do! I love and adore mad-uh- line but it would make me go bananas if people pronounced it mad uh lyn

Margot! Such a beautiful, chic name. I don’t mind [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] or [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] but definitely prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

Margot is my favourite, but I also like the unisex feel of [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] and [name_u]Reid[/name_u] together. I have the same issues with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] / [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] / [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], even though it is a lovely name.

Madeleine is my favorite of these, but I think your concerns about [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and the pronunciation are valid. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is nice but it seems a bit mismatched with [name_u]Reid[/name_u].

I love both [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]–my favorite pronunciation is -line! It sounds like you have more hesitations about [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], though, so I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] gets my vote in this case. I really like it with [name_u]Reid[/name_u], too!

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes for [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]! Either pronunciation is gorgeous. & You’re right, I don’t really care for nn [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] either, but maybe nn [name_f]Della[/name_f] could work? [name_u]Or[/name_u] no nickname at all?

[name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be the lovely and classic [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but personally prefer the [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] spelling although its still a gorgeous name! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite out of those is [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] probably. Elegant, feminine & familiar but not overly common. If you don’t like how common [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is, there are other options for nicknames with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]:

Mini/Minnie
[name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_m]Mads[/name_m]
[name_f]Lin[/name_f]/Linny
[name_f]Della[/name_f] (my personal favourite)
[name_f]Delle[/name_f]

However, I’d say [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is the most compatible with [name_u]Reid[/name_u] but that may not be important to you personally.

Good luck!

Margot is my favourite  It’s chic and beautiful. I like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/line but don’t like that there isn’t a default pronunciation. [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is nice but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] wins for me.

Morgan! I think [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] works the best with brother [name_u]Reid[/name_u] and they would sound adorable together.

Margot seems by far the most “stand out” of these choices. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

I prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I love how it shares a prominent “d” sound and an “ei” with [name_u]Reid[/name_u]!

Thanks all! Appreciate your thoughts and some of the validation about the [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/leine pronunciation issues! I think I’m leaning towards [name_f]Margot[/name_f] at the moment!

I like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] a lot, but if it has the nickname [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] then I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
