Not to add more confusion but I’ve even seen this name spelled Margeaux as well. I don’t know if there’s any tradition behind that spelling or if it’s limited to the family I know but just wanted to throw that out there!
I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. Though over the weekend I was polling people I know about names and was really surprised at the number of friends who pronounced it [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-gott. I still prefer the [name_f]Margot[/name_f] spelling, but the pronunciation issues are ones I never anticipated and it makes me pause a bit.
I definitely prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. It looks more complete to me than [name_f]Margo[/name_f] does. And it has more a “classic” look to me than [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] does.
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] might encounter spelling and pronunciation errors.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] is alright, but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is the traditional spelling, and I also like it better.
I have a daughter named [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], and her name has only been mispronounced twice maybe. I love the name, obviously, my husband and I almost went with [name_f]Margo[/name_f] but her middle name is short ([name_f]Elsie[/name_f]) so we thought why not?
To me [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] looks very beautiful and sophisticated, whereas [name_f]Margot[/name_f] always makes me think ‘maggots’ and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] just looks incomplete. My vote definitely goes to [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], spelling/pronunciation issues aside.
The version that looks ‘[name_m]French[/name_m]’ and end with a ‘kiss’ is my pick any day !
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] <3
I’ve thought about this long and hard! [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is one of my all-time favourites (although I’m worried that the new Paper Towns book & movie is going to bring it into the spotlight
Yes, I’m one of those…)
I ultimately decided that [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is my favourite spelling. It looks fresh, fun and happy. I knew a girl called [name_f]Margot[/name_f] in high school who was called Maggot and that put me off for life. Besides, I’m biased, but my aunty’s name is [name_f]Margo[/name_f], and my twin sister’s middle name is [name_f]Margo[/name_f].
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] is my favorite.
For the sake of simplicity and pronunciation I like [name_f]Margo[/name_f]
