My favorite spelling is [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but our last name starts with T, and when I print it out by hand, the little t seems to break it up, whereas with the other 2 spellings there’s much more flow. [name_f]My[/name_f] 2nd favorite spelling is [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], but I think this probably comes with the risk of sounding pretentious, or more [name_u]French[/name_u] than we are. Opinions? Middle name we’re considering is [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
I think all the spellings are lovely! If you’re not liking [name_f]Margot[/name_f] with your surname, I think [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] is a nice alternative. I still can’t figure out how a name can sound “pretentious” so I think it’s a great choice!
Margo is my favorite since I always said [name_f]Margot[/name_f] ‘mar-got’ which always confused me.
- Margaux
- Margot
Margo looks too much like Cargo and slap-dashed.
I’d go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] just because I couldn’t do [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] without having any [name_u]French[/name_u] background. I wouldn’t say it’s pretentious but for me it just doesn’t feel right.
Margo is hands down my favorite. I’m just not a fan of the extra letters in [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] because my brain wants to pronounce them. I’ve also known a few girls named [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and one [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], so [name_f]Margot[/name_f] isn’t the spelling I think of immediately when I hear the name. I don’t think [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] sounds/looks pretentious.
Also prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
Being a silent t there is no issues with pronunciation and I personally wouldn’t mind the double letter.
Margot for sure
I like Margeaux
Margot is my favourite spelling, then [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. I’m not particularly keen on [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] personally.
I love [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. I think it’s cooler. I don’t think its pretentious at all. I think it has a certain elegance. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] looks like maggot - I personally wouldn’t risk my kid being teased.
I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and I’d probably go with that
I adore both [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I previously preferred the former but I’ve come to love the latter too, and I’d probably use that if I used the name, only because I’m also worried about people perceiving [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] as pretentious. I hadn’t even thought about it until someone once said it to me. I don’t really think it is pretentious though and I think if it works better with your surname you should use it.
I love the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f] spelt with a t. It reminds me of Pinot and seems so chic. I don’t know why but [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] isn’t nearly as appealing to me and I don’t like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] at all. Some of my favourite [name_f]Margot[/name_f] combos are:
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
I’ve always said I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but actually in recent months I’ve been really coming round to the other spellings. All have a slightly different vibe to me.
Margot is sleek, tailored, vintage, a little buttoned-up but in a cool way.
Margo is retro rather than vintage, a little bit sassier and more energetic.
Margaux makes a bit more of a statement. It’s elegant, dramatic and feels a bit more “grown up”, and more distinctly Euro-chic.
With [name_f]Eve[/name_f] in the middle, I actually like [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] best. The combo [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] looks beautifully balanced and elegant, and I feel like there’s a slightly vampish vibe going on, which I love. I’m getting [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Green[/name_u] as [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] in Casino [name_m]Royale[/name_m] vibes, very cool!
I love the spelling [name_f]Margot[/name_f]! [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is a gorgeous name
When I look at [name_f]Margo[/name_f], it usually looks uncomplete to me, but at the same time this is the most simple and intuitive spelling. I like the simplicity.
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] looks unique and powerful, but it is also more elaborated and complicated to spell. The x doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, to be honest.
I would go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Margo[/name_f].
Let me tell you a secret …I don’t care for any of the spellings.
Margo looks incomplete.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] looks like [name_f]Mar[/name_f] got something.
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] has to many “unnecessary” letters.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the name. I couldn’t use it though. Guess I would use [name_f]Margot[/name_f] if I had to.
Margaux is lovely!
