What does everyone think of [name]Maria[/name] as a first name? It’s my grandmother’s name and she’s my absolute favorite person in the world! I really want to name a future daughter after her… at first I thought I would use it as a middle name, but more and more I think I want to use it as a first name. Does [name]Maria[/name] sound too ethnic though? I think most people would assume [name]Maria[/name] is either Italian or Hispanic, but we’re of German ancestry. Is that a big deal, or not really? And what about a middle name for [name]Maria[/name] and possible siblings? I like [name]Maria[/name] [name]Iris[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Simon[/name], and [name]Felix[/name] as siblings… Does that work? Any other suggestions? Thanks everyone!!

[name]Maria[/name] is very universal, I think. Think of [name]Maria[/name] Shriver…It is lovely and can almost go with any type of middle name. I would think that classics would go well in a sibset with [name]Maria[/name]

I think [name]Maria[/name] is fine with a [name]German[/name] last name. [name]Maria[/name] von Trapp was Austrian, no big deal, I think it works. For the record, my grandmother is from [name]Austria[/name] and her name is [name]Ericka[/name] (random, I find) and her mother’s name was [name]Francesca[/name]. [name]Francesca[/name] is super Italian, but she fared just fine with Austrian surnames.
