I prefer [name_f]Maren[/name_f]. I just think [name_u]Marian[/name_u] sounds a little old-lady.
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] is so outdated here in Denmark, it’s right about as old-fashioned as [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] and I just can’t look beyond that. [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is beautiful, she has got my vote. She makes me think of [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood.
I much prefer [name_f]Maren[/name_f]. I guess this depends on where you live but [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is the outdated one here.
I love [name_f]Maren[/name_f]! So fresh and lovely.
Yep, this exactly!
I love [name_f]Maren[/name_f]! My husband thought I made it up when I suggested it (and we wouldn’t use it with [name_f]Maura[/name_f] anyway), but I had a student named [name_f]Maren[/name_f] when I taught preschool and she was just darling. Curly blonde hair and blue eyes, like a little doll. And she was really funny, too! Her baby sister was named [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], which I also really like. Their mom had good taste in names.
To me [name_f]Maren[/name_f] sounds too much like marron, which is like a fresh water crayfish here in Australia… Very delicious though!
I don’t find either of them too outdated, but I prefer [name_u]Marian[/name_u]. I also think of Maid [name_u]Marian[/name_u] in [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood.
I voted for [name_f]Maren[/name_f], but I really like both.
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]! Of course I’m biased as it’s my daughter’s middle name, but I think it’s unbelievably beautiful, and [name_u]Marian[/name_u] from [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood is amazing! [name_f]Maren[/name_f]'s cute too, but it’s not a beauty like [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is.
I love this name - my grandmother’s name was [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] is lovely, but overused, and modern.
I voted [name_f]Maren[/name_f], but I like both just about the same! [name_f]Maren[/name_f] has a lovely whisper-y quality, though, that really appeals to me.
My cousin has a [name_f]Maren[/name_f] and it’s cute but I think it will be date stamped for this decade. Also some people think it’s pronounced [name_f]MAR[/name_f]-in and some think [name_f]Mare[/name_f]-in. [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is prettier sounding in my opinion and has the history to back it up.
I love [name_f]Maren[/name_f] so much! I love all the spellings including the very Irish Mairin and the simpler [name_f]Marin[/name_f]. [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is just so outdated.
