We found out last week that [name]Baby[/name] #3 is another girl. Originally, we had agreed on the name [name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name], but now we are both second guessing it. What do you all think of this name? If you don’t like it, could you please make some other suggestions? We are looking for another M name. I know some of the berries don’t like the same initial theme, but we do and are sticking to it. We already have DD named [name]Madelaine[/name] and DS named [name]Micah[/name]. Last name starts with D and is two syllables. Thanks for the help!!
[name]Milena[/name] is my favorite. [name]Love[/name] the meaning and the sound. Plus you get the nn’s [name]Mila[/name] or [name]Mia[/name]… Good [name]Luck[/name]
I came across the name [name]Marina[/name] when I read a book by [name]Marina[/name] [name]Warner[/name], and I immediately loved it. (The name. Well, the book too, but that’s neither here nor there.)
If not [name]Marina[/name], then I’d suggest [name]Mara[/name] and second the suggestion of [name]Milena[/name].
[name]Marina[/name] reminds me of the birth control [name]Marena[/name]… I like the suggestion of [name]Mila[/name]
Not a fan of [name]Marina[/name] - also reminds me of the birth control [name]Mirena[/name].
I like:
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name]
I really like [name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. So lovely. I think it goes great with [name]Madeleine[/name] & [name]Micah[/name].
Other M names:
[name]Marlena[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Maura[/name]
[name]Meliora[/name]
[name]Millicent[/name]
[name]Moira[/name]
I absolutely love [name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name] and I hope you stick with it! But I also like [name]Mary[/name] (alone or double-barrel with something like [name]Frances[/name]), [name]Marlene[/name], [name]Marla[/name], [name]Martine[/name], [name]Martina[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Maria[/name], [name]Marietta[/name], [name]Marielle[/name], [name]Magda[/name], [name]Magdalena[/name]
I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. So vintage, so spunky! As for [name]Marina[/name], the first time I heard this name was last year in NYC, a little 6 month old. Her mother’s family is from [name]Argentina[/name], so I thought it was a popular Spanish name. It has marinated with me over time, and now, I am a huge fan. It sounds almost classic but very fresh and warm, too.
I think you have a winner in [name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name]!
[name]Marina[/name] is gorgeous and classic and evocative. Please use it!
The similarity to [name]Mirena[/name] has never once occurred to me, probably b/c the latter is officially pronounced mi-[name]RAY[/name]-na. Plus, seriously, the patent for that will expire in a few years and by the time she is old enough to care, the company will probably be marketing a totally different brand of birth control anyway…
If you decide to toss [name]Marina[/name], though, some other M names I like are [name]Mariel[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Melina[/name], [name]Miranda[/name] and [name]Mireille[/name].
[name]Frances[/name] is likely to be the middle name no matter what we choose. DH’s grandmother’s name is [name]Francesca[/name], but she doesn’t like it and goes by Fraces, so we will most likely be using it to honor her.
I appreciate the opinions and suggestions. I didn’t notice the connection to [name]Mirena[/name], and I don’t think it is a problem. I have just been second guessing because I want to pick the best name possible, especially since I know this will be our last baby. I have second guessed with both of our other children’s names, but I always end up going with the first choice. I think in this case, our biggest issue is that DH isn’t 100% sold.
[name]Marina[/name]'s nice and continuing the ‘M’ theme is a nice idea. There’s also [name]Marine[/name] which is popular in [name]France[/name] at the moment.
[name]Marina[/name] is beautifull name but I think that sounds ordinary comparing to names of your other two children.I like [name]Frances[/name] for midle name.
First name starting with M that I suggest:[name]Milena[/name] (it’s my name ),[name]Magdalena[/name],Marklena,[name]Marlene[/name] or [name]Maya[/name].
I think [name]Marina[/name] is SO gorgeous and very classic sounding. It’s actually one of my top names and I don’t think it gets enough love.
I think [name]Marina[/name] is very pretty and unique! I also like [name]Marin[/name], [name]Milena[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], or [name]Miranda[/name] with [name]Madelaine[/name] and [name]Micah[/name]
[name]Marina[/name] is beautiful! (And Shakespearean too!)
[name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is gorgeous. Stick with it!
I agree-- [name]Marina[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is a great name and you should use it. [name]Marnie[/name] is a cute nn too.
I absolutely love the name [name]Marina[/name], one of my favorites for a girl. I have always disliked the name [name]Frances[/name] though. I love [name]Marina[/name] [name]Grace[/name].
Sorry, but I do not associate [name]Mirena[/name] with [name]Marina[/name] at all. [name]Marina[/name] makes me think of [name]Summer[/name] and beaches. [name]Hence[/name] is why I like it so much.
I’m considering [name]Marina[/name] for our first girl, I love it! It’s very international, seen in [name]Russia[/name], Europe and the like. It’s very interesting and beautiful.
