We’re looking for girl names that can be recognized in English and [name_m]French[/name_m] (my husband is [name_m]French[/name_m] but we live in the US). The one classic [name_m]French[/name_m] girl name we can agree on so far is [name_u]Marion[/name_u].
The middle name will probably be [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], a family name. Other options for the first name are [name_f]Annika[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] - not really [name_m]French[/name_m] but we think they would be recognizable in [name_f]France[/name_f]. These two would probably be clunky with [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] as a middle name - but we will still probably stick with [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] as the middle name.
Any thoughts [name_u]Marion[/name_u] in English, and whether there are any classic [name_m]French[/name_m] girl names that would be good in English too, and with [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] as a middle name? Thanks!
I love [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. Maybe you can share some of the [name_m]French[/name_m] names you are considering and we can comment on their viability in English?
Out of the names you listed, [name_u]Marion[/name_u]'s my favorite.
I think [name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] is far too repetitive with the -ka endings.
Other ideas…
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] / [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] - nn [name_f]Julia[/name_f] if you want!
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] - not quite [name_m]French[/name_m], but I think it could translate well
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Maryse[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] is an absolutely exquisite name. Very beautiful. I’d look no further, personally. Usually [name_m]French[/name_m] girls are named [name_u]Julie[/name_u], not [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is actually very easy to say in [name_m]French[/name_m], myself.
I’m leaning toward [name_u]Marion[/name_u], due to an aunt with that name, and it’s sadly very uncommon now!
Some that come to my mind, that work in either [name_m]French[/name_m] or English:
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] ([name_f]Maude[/name_f])
[name_f]Anne[/name_f]

[name_f]Diane[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]

I actually really like [name_f]Annika[/name_f]! But it doesn’t go well with [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]. So I guess [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] would be nice
I love, love, love [name_u]Marion[/name_u] or [name_u]Marian[/name_u]. Other names are [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Celine[/name_f]/[name_f]Celena[/name_f]
