It depends on the first name a lot.
Normally I’d agree - but in our case it fits with all our chosen names and combo’s - we just can’t decide which one we think is the better name!
I voted for [name]Margarita[/name] - I think it best fits the combination of [name]Marguerite[/name]/[name]Rita[/name] and Margrethe/[name]Grethe[/name].
I kinda like both, but in your situation I’d probably choose [name]Margaret[/name] as it would fee like a combination of both names rather than picking one of the other.
I prefer [name]Marguerite[/name] and [name]Margarethe[/name], but if these are the final two, then [name]Marita[/name]. Without any Spanish heritage giving it legitimacy, I see [name]Margarita[/name] and think happy hour.
[name]Margarita[/name]=delicious tequila cocktail so I voted [name]Marita[/name]. I like the suggestion of [name]Margaret[/name] if it works with your first name choices.
[name]Just[/name] my humble opinion - but when I hear [name]Marita[/name] I think “[name]Little[/name] [name]Mary[/name]” and when I hear [name]Margarita[/name] I think “tequila.” So I voted for [name]Marita[/name], it’s cute!
[name]Margarita[/name] is all alcohol to me, so I picked [name]Marita[/name]. It’s cute.
Yeah, these are the final two options - We don’t want to use [name]Marguerite[/name] as she didn’t like that name herself and we don’t like [name]Margaret[/name]!
We picked these two as they are a good combo of both names and because we like the sound of them as stand-alone names and combined with the names we have in mind.
I prefer [name]Marita[/name] to [name]Margarita[/name]. When I see [name]Margarita[/name], I think of the drink. I just find it silly as a name.
Well, in all fairness, it was a name way before it was a drink
I prefer the grandma’s names to the alternatives!
If I had to choose probably [name]Marita[/name] but I like [name]Marissa[/name] more.
Yuck! [name]Margarita[/name] is a drink and sounds low-class.
[name]Marita[/name] is better though not necessarily something I would pick myself.
Personally, I like [name]Marguerite[/name] more, but you already said it wasn’t an option.
I love [name]Marguerite[/name] and [name]Greta[/name]! I would use those or [name]Margaret[/name] instead of those you posted. [name]Margarita[/name] makes me want to sing Margaritaville.
We don’t like [name]Marguerite[/name] - Neither did my partners grandmother! In fact she hated her name and we know she wouldn’t appreciate us using that to honour her (in fact she told my mother in law, her daughter, that it would be cruel to use it, when she considered using [name]Marguerite[/name] for her oldest daughter). So no it definitely is NOT an option. Its too harsh in my native town too.
[name]Margaret[/name] - we do not like this either. It isn’t and will not be an option. [name]Nor[/name] will [name]Greta[/name] as I just don’t like it in my native tongue!
And I’m sorry, but I really don’t think there’s any reason to become overly nasty about not liking a name someone else has chosen! We obviously like these names and I merely asked which of the two is better option - there’s no reason saying yuck or calling it low-class!
I prefer [name]Margarita[/name]. I find [name]Marita[/name] rather clunky.
[name]Marita[/name] = I think of two women I know. [name]One[/name] in her 40s and the other I’ve known for 15 years and she’s in her 20s. It’s gorgeous.
[name]Margarita[/name] = I think of a cocktail.
I would pick [name]Marita[/name] of the two, as I agree with others that the drink connection is too strong. I would suggest [name]Magali[/name] (maga[name]LEE[/name]), the Provençal version of [name]Marguerite[/name]/[name]Margarita[/name], as it reflects more of both grandmothers’ names equally. I also just prefer the sound of it compared with [name]Marita[/name].
[name]Margarita[/name] makes me think of the beverage, too. While it indeed was a name before a popular alcoholic beverage, it’s pretty well tied to tequila now. [name]Marita[/name] seems the prettier, less loaded choice [name]IMO[/name].
