I actually surprised myself by really liking [name]Marnie[/name]. I wish there were better long forms for it – it feels too nicknamey to put on a birth certificate.
I like it, and it’s one of my twin sister’s [name]FAVORITE[/name] names. She’s liked it for several years, I think because it reminds her of “Marmee” from [name]Little[/name] Women. I love nicknamey names, so I’m all in favor of it. You may like some of my twin’s other favorite names that have the same feel: [name]Marcy[/name], [name]Darby[/name], [name]Darcy[/name].
I think [name]Marnie[/name] is cute and could work alone, but prefer it as nn, if you don’t like [name]Marnina[/name] it could be a nn for…
[name]Marian[/name]
[name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Marilyn[/name]
[name]Marina[/name]
[name]Marlene[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
I really like it! When I saw the title of the post, I immediately thought “Wow, that is sooo cute!”
A little boy that I work with couldn’t say my full name and nicknamed me this. I have a warm spot for it.
[name]Marni[/name], no E, is actually a modern Hebrew name meaning “rejoice.” I prefer this version.
Honestly, [name]Marnie[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] sounds a bit '80s-dated to me. [name]Marnie[/name] was quite a common name in Australia when I was at school, and I’m nearly 40. It has a vaguely cutesy/tacky feel to it, to my ears - kind of like [name]Kylie[/name] or [name]Melanie[/name].
For some reason, though, I much prefer it spelled [name]Marni[/name] as suggested by blade.
