Marnie

Can I get some reactions to [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] other people think of it as being tied to the show Girls? If you met a little [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], would you think her parents had been inspired by the show?

Honestly, I don’t even know the reference you’re making. I like [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], it’s very spunky and not too weird. I also like it as a nickname for [name_f]Marina[/name_f]!

I didn’t catch that reference either. I like [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], it’s fun, sweet, w/ both the potential to be spunky, girly, and tom-boyish. Nice choice!

I think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is truly adorable. I do think of Girls (love that show!) but I don’t think that reference will last forever. My bet is that the show won’t have a terribly long run, and it’s not like it’s Friends or something - it’s a much smaller audience.

I’ve never seen that show so I can’t really speak to if it will make people think of that character or not. However, I think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is a cute name. It’s fairly unique (I’m 28 and have only come across one [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] in my life) but not strange.

I think it’s really cute. There’s something intriguing about it. The only one I’ve ever known is probably 35 or so now, so I tend to think of it as maybe slightly outdated? But that’s only one person, and I have no idea how the name has trended over time. Either way, it feels like a name that would do well today, ie. ready for a comeback if it is actually dated. I kind of like the idea of using it as a nickname for [name_f]Marina[/name_f]/[name_f]Marena[/name_f]/[name_f]Marlena[/name_f] etc.

(I didn’t know what show you were talking about either.)

I think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is adorable, though personally I prefer it as a nickname

I haven’t seen the show, but I have heard of it and I do think it’s put the name [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] back into people’s consciousness. I think of the [name_m]Hitchcock[/name_m] film and even moreso the Italian fashion range, [name_f]Marni[/name_f]. I think all 3 associations are pretty cool (I am making the assumption that Girls is cool, I haven’t seen it but I like the idea of a nontraditional beauty/ witty woman writer headlining a TV show about sex. In theory it’s cool, but for all I know it totally sucks) and I wouldn’t hesitate to use [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], but some people might connect the name to Girls. Maybe [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] nn [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]?

I think it’s adorable, but the only reason it’s not on my list is I think kids would make fun of her and call her [name_m]Barney[/name_m]… The name itself is really cute though!

I love the name [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]. A friend of mine is named [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], she is in her late 20’s these days. I always liked her name. Its a little quirky, but pretty and it sparkles for me. I think of the ocean every time I hear it.

I think it makes a better nickname. As far as associations go, I do think of Girls - but I think of Halloweentown first!

I am so old I don’t know the show Girls!

[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] to me is [name_f]Tippi[/name_f] Hedron in [name_m]Hitchcock[/name_m]'s movie, [name_f]Marnie[/name_f].

It is not a nice-sounding name to me, rhyming with carnie and blarney.

I prefer [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] or [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] or [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeira[/name_f].

[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] has a certain old fashioned charm but is nicknamey. I’d prefer it as a nickname. I don’t know the girls reference either.

[name_f]Marina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] or just [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is my top choice for a girl. I can’t decide which I prefer and it changes daily. I’ve never seen Girls, but from my research of the name, I came across the fact that there is a character named [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]. In my case, my dear grandma was named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanie[/name_f] so [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is a combo of her name and a way to honor her.

I’m not sure of the reference in which you speak. However, it is adorable and I love that it’s unique. Go for it!
