She’s named for my mother and grandfather, though the name didn’t come to us till the very end of my pregnancy–my husband and I had a good sit-down and talked through what we really wanted in our child’s name, and unfussy underused classic saints’ names it was. We’ve been playing her all the great songs about Marthas by [name_m]Tom[/name_m] Waits, [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] [name_m]Wainwright[/name_m], the Beatles, [name_m]Jefferson[/name_m] Airplane, etc, and collecting the [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f] children’s books.
