Martha, Robin and?

Hello, I posted a few weeks ago asking for girl name suggestions to go with siblings [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] (boy). Here is my current ‘shortlist’ - which is changing daily haha. Does anyone have any comments on these names? Which is your favourite/least favourite? Any other suggestions?

[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] / [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]

Also love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] but unsure about [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

Thank you

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] - it sounds nice, but it just reminds me of a Jennifer/Susan/Ellen
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]

I don’t think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Martha[/name_f], but I wouldn’t use it because I would need either all of my kids to have the same letter, or none of them have the same letter lol :joy:.

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] is definitely my favorite!! This is a gorgeous set!!!

[name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], + [name_f]Faye[/name_f]

:nest_with_eggs::wood::evergreen_tree::woman_fairy::basket::ear_of_rice:

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - gentle, bright and sparkly

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] - sleek, sharp and stylish and sweet too

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] - same vibes as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], just a bit stronger, grander

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - classic, strong and versatile

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - sweet, lacey and lovely

[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - strong but sweet and fits the vibe of [name_f]Martha[/name_f]

[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] - bright and vintage

[name_f]Lena[/name_f] - is this Lenn-uh, Lee-nuh, or lay-nuh?

[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] - a bit harsh for me, but nice enough

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - lovely, bright and clear

Faves: [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
Least fave: [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]

A few other ideas:

[name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and…

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Esme[/name_u]
[name_f]Betsy[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]

[name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], and …Hattie

[name_f]Lena[/name_f] would be Lee-nuh.

Honestly leaning towards [name_f]Faye[/name_f] as it was our initial first choice - one thing that puts me off is it’s one syllable and our surname is one syllable too so it doesn’t flow brilliantly

That is my problem with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] too - it doesn’t necessarily sound the same but I wanted them all different initials haha

I think [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] sound the best with your other kids.

Gosh gorgeous sibling set :white_heart:

Favourite to least favourite…

Clara ~ I love this name she’s beautiful really princessey and bright with European flair however this feedback is only in relation to KLAARA pronunciation. However Clair-uh isn’t my favourite pronunciation.

Sylvie/Sylvia ~ Sylvie is beautiful, ethereal, majestic and peaceful with the lovely meaning ‘from the forest’ I love the overall feel of Sylvie! Sylvia is also gorgeous feels more ‘vintage’ less carefree maybe more formal feeling but also stunning. I think Sylvie is a better fit.

Faye ~ I love the fairytale fairy feel of Faye! Faye is a bright, whimsical choice and sounds gorgeous with Martha + Robin. Love Faye!

Abigail ~ I really like Abigail she used to not be a favourite of mine but I think she’s becoming a slow burning new crush honestly I can completely see why she’s loved by many! Abigail is strong, biblical, elegant, has the wonderful meaning ‘father’s joy’ and the sweet nickname Abby.

Lydia ~ another pretty biblical name with a melodic L sounds she’s elegant, strong and has a sing song sound. She’s lovely.

Hattie ~ she’s adorable, spunky, with a sweet vintage flair very happy and has a fun feel. However does feel a bit juvenile paired with Martha but works well with Robin.

Julia ~ a very timeless name she’s strong, graceful and has a summery vibe. I think Julia is a lovely name but I do feel that Juliet would be a better fit.

Joyce ~ this name rates the same as Julia in my eyes I like her just as much Julia however I think Joyce has the right vintage flair with Martha + Robin sounds aesthetically gorgeous. Such a call the midwife aesthetic so lush.

Lena ~ I do like Lena very elegant with a European flair but doesn’t fit that well with Martha + Robin in my opinion just feels very different.

Mabel ~ Mabel is a sweet name with a pretty meaning however does feel very trendy rather than the sweet unexpected flair of Martha + Robin. Also I’m not a fan of Mabel + Martha with the repeated ‘ma’ starts.

Hope this helps

i actually love mabel here!! i don’t think it is too close to martha and would actually sit really well with the set!

apart from mabel, i also love julia, hattie, sylvie + faye

Maybe you might like:

[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]April[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]

They seem close to [name_f]Mable[/name_f] in sound and vintage unexpected but familiar like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u]

Wildcard options with similar sound to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]

[name_u]Sorrell[/name_u]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Beryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Avril[/name_f]
[name_u]Abril[/name_u]
[name_f]Cheryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f]

All the best

[name_f]Faye[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f] so much!
I also like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] on your list.
How about [name_f]Hetty[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]?

[name_f]My[/name_f] top 3 would be [name_f]Faye[/name_f] , [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] faves are [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] / [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. Of those, I’d eliminate [name_f]Clara[/name_f] because the shared assonance with [name_f]Martha[/name_f] (‘are’ sound) is too samey imo. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] I don’t think fits stylistically. Of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] works best and it’s nice that they’d all have different ending sounds.

However, my absolute favourite with this set is [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]! Ordinarily I’d prefer different initials, but I think as the vowel sound is so different and the name endings distinct there’s enough of a point of difference. It just works; all 3 names have the same cosy, homespun vibe. So my vote goes to [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] which I find just adorable.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]!

Faye : I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f]! I have only known one [name_f]Faye[/name_f], she was a very cool and professional woman and the name suited her well.
Sylvie/Sylvia: I like both but prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] with [name_f]Martha[/name_f].
Abigail: [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is very classic and pretty! Most Abigails I know go exclusively by [name_u]Abby[/name_u].
Lydia: [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and I think it’s brilliant with [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u]!
Julia: [name_f]Julia[/name_f] might be may favorite to go with [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u]! It’s timeless
Hattie: I like [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] but I prefer [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Hattie[/name_f].
Lena: I like it! Simple and pretty. Are you thinking Lee-na or Lay-na?
Joyce: [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] is unexpected for a 2020s baby but I find that charming.
Clara: [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a great name! [name_u]Strong[/name_u] and soft at the same time. [name_f]My[/name_f] only trouble with it is that it can be pronounced Claire-uh or Clah-rah depending on accent.

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is one of my favorite names but I don’t love it with [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. They feel a little matchy matchy since they are both vintage and start with M.

I love [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u], by the way! [name_u]Wonderful[/name_u] taste.
