Martha?

Thoughts on [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. I was just chilling in the forums and stumbled upon it…and I think I’m smitten. Does not fit with any of my other names right now but hey.

Thoughts?

I like it, it’s pretty popular here in the UK and I went to school with a lovely [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. I think it’s a soft and strong, capable-sounding name – a [name_f]Martha[/name_f] would be warm and friendly, but independent and willing to speak her own mind.

I love [name_f]Martha[/name_f]! It’s sweet and traditional but underused. It feels soft and studious, but has fun nickname options like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Mari[/name_f]/Ari to balance that out. It’s a lovely classic I’d love to see more often.

I think it’s okay. I don’t love it, but I don’t dislike it, either. It just doesn’t “wow” me.

Martha has the advantages of being a familiar name that everyone will know how to spell and pronounce, and it’s not overly common.

I kinda like [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the possible nn [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] and I I like the clunky vintage feel it has. I have one bad association with the name ( a very posh, know it all girl in my university) and a good association (an adorable baby girl on Instagram).

This use to be a very early name crush for me.
The name was recently reintroduced in society by the movie Jumanji, which I thought was great!

Overall its a nice name!

Yeah see I am state side so I have never met a [name_f]Martha[/name_f] irl. Only real exposure was from some UK based Tv shows.

My thoughts exactly I really like [name_f]Mari[/name_f]

I really love [name_f]Martha[/name_f] at the moment! It’s quite popular here at the moment, and I can see why.

I love [name_f]Martha[/name_f]! It’s on my list. I’ve never met one but I went to school with a girl whose middle name was [name_f]Martha[/name_f], and there’s a [name_f]Martha[/name_f] in [name_u]Doctor[/name_u] Who. I think it’s soft but strong-sounding at the same time, like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] could be a bada** but also kind. I think (?) it’s more popular here in the UK than the US. I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] too, which has a similar sound and vibe.

I think [name_f]Martha[/name_f] is sweet little name with a great vintage flair it’s not that uncommon in the U.K. but it’s still feels refreshing to me. [name_f]Martha[/name_f] feels strong and capable it’s a solid choice I really like the name.

Martha has a warm and homely feel to it. It’s quite nice

I love [name_f]Martha[/name_f]! Spunky and elegant. It’s been on my radar lately too. A good alternative to [name_f]Margot[/name_f], which seems to be rising quickly. I love it and it fits perfectly with my top few: [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & [name_m]Walter[/name_m].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname [name_u]Patsy[/name_u].

It’s a fine name but the only Marthas I know are grandma age so it doesn’t appeal to me for a baby. I prefer [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_u]Maria[/name_u] for sure.

Oh my goodness I love [name_f]Martie[/name_f]. It seems like such an obvious choice but I totally missed it.

Right. It would be so refreshing. Also [name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] is totally going on my list. Living out my like British-y naming dreams. (I’m in the north west of the US and same)

I love the name, but I am unsure if it’s a lifelong love. In my opinion, I think it is one of those names that seems adorable for a while, but if it was used on my child I feel as though I may regret it as my child ages. However, I could be totally wrong!

It would be SO cute on a baby today! ^^

I prefer [name_f]Marta[/name_f] or [name_f]Martina[/name_f]/Martine. [name_f]Mari[/name_f] is really pretty too.

Martha sounds very old lady to me but not in a cool vintage comeback way. Although [name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] is a nice namesake and [name_f]Martha[/name_f]’s Vineyard is a good association. I guess for me its just something about the way the name sounds that puts me off personally but it sounds like many others like the name so don’t let my opinion deter you. [name_f]Martha[/name_f] is just one of those names that I really don’t like the sound of - although I like a lot of similar names as mentioned above.
