Marvelous Myrna?

Captivating and charming?

I’ve grown fond of [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] but I don’t think I would have very much company. The clunky sound is not a popular one in this age of [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] and [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]. People want to hear lots of “ay” and “ee” sounds not “er” so [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] and [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] are passé. [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] makes me think of glamourous Hollywood actress [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] [name_m]Loy[/name_m]. I don’t think [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] would get much attention in this modern age.

I want to like it, but I just can’t. I agree, "AY"s "EE"s "IA"s and "T"s ([name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]) are all in, but the harsher sounds ("ER"s, "ERE"s, etc) are not. I just can’t see a little [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] going over well. I did go to school with a [name_f]Myra[/name_f] though, and everyone seemed to love his name, so maybe [name_f]Myra[/name_f] would be a nice alternative?

Very much agree with pp that [name_f]Myra[/name_f] would be a great alternative. I think people would trip all over the pronunciation of this forgotten old-fashioned name that doesn’t jive with modern trends. But [name_f]Myra[/name_f] would be totally fine. I rather like [name_f]Myra[/name_f].

@[name_u]Mischa[/name_u] - I love “-er” … and Old-Hollywood.

@[name_u]Haley[/name_u] - [name_f]Myra[/name_f] was a he? Now that fascinates me ;).

@Mrs. B - But forgotten old-fashioned names that don’t jive with modern trends are my favorites!

I like [name_f]Myrna[/name_f]'s clunky class. Hubby refused to add it to our list.
