[name_m]Hi[/name_m] friends! Not TTC or anything, just thinking about this combo! I have such a soft spot for double-barreled names, especially [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-somethings…what do you all think of this one? They’re such beautiful names separately and I think they would work well together, but I’d love to hear what you all think! Is the religious connotation too overpowering? What about nicknames? I know it’s not too long of a name to begin with, but nicknames happen in my family no matter the length (and aren’t frequently written down). Does [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_f]Doe[/name_f] sound like mayday 
Is [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_f]Dee[/name_f] better? [name_u]Or[/name_u] just [name_f]May[/name_f]? Ok that’s enough questions lol thanks for your input on [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]!!
I wouldn’t have thought of the religious connection, but I’m not religious myself. I’m not a big fan of hyphenated names but I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Dove[/name_u] has a nice sound! I wouldn’t think of [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_f]Doe[/name_f] as a nickname for it. Maybe [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_f]Dee[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] go-to nickname might just be [name_f]May[/name_f], or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Dee[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] (though my name is [name_f]Mary[/name_f] so I guess I’m a little biased there haha)! I guess I never really thought about the religious tie of having [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_u]Dove[/name_u] together, so I don’t think it is super noticeable. That being said, it can be religious or it doesn’t have to be, just whatever you want it to be. I don’t really have any nicknames besides [name_f]Mar[/name_f](e) or [name_f]Mare[/name_f]-bare (that one is reserved for my grandma haha). I think [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]May[/name_f]/Mae are cool nicknames. Maybe even [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (combining [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and ve from dove)
Aww it’s adorable! I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-somethings and [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is sweet. It completes [name_f]Mary[/name_f] very well. I don’t think the religious association is too much. I think just [name_f]May[/name_f] works well as a nickname.
Mary [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is gorgeous! I don’t think it’s too religious, in fact I didn’t think of that at all, I think of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] as just a name and [name_u]Dove[/name_u] as the bird. I like [name_f]Dovie[/name_f] as a nickname for it.
I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] a lot! I don’t think it’s any more religious than [name_f]Mary[/name_f] itself is, lol, and that’s not very much, considering how rabidly popular [name_f]Mary[/name_f] has been over the past couple of centuries. 
May-[name_f]Doe[/name_f] doesn’t sound like mayday to me, but it does sound like Play-Doh to me, unfortunately! I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] in full, but I think you could do [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] as a nn (not in looks, but the sounds are there!). [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe even something like [name_f]Dovie[/name_f]/Vivi? Stretches, but I still like them lol. “[name_f]May[/name_f] [name_f]Dee[/name_f]” sounds super cute, although I’d be tempted to spell it [name_f]Madie[/name_f]. [name_f]May[/name_f] itself is sweet, but I like [name_f]Dovie[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] more, personally?
I actually really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] usually because it feels too biblical and religious, but paired with [name_u]Dove[/name_u] I quite like the flow.

I actually think this name is so elegant. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is such an underused classic that deserves more love and attention. I think she definitely has a great vintage flair she would be really refreshing on a young child. I like [name_u]Dove[/name_u] with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] personally I do not see any drawbacks with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] or any negative connotations. Yes the name feels religious but strongly so I think it’s actually very peaceful.
