Mary Nova as a double first?

What do you think about [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] as a double first name? What impression does it give you?
Could you see it working or would everyone default to just [name_f]Mary[/name_f]?

I

I know a lot of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ____'s, ([name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]…I could go on and on!) so i’m used to using both names and in my community it wouldn’t get shortened. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is interesting. Most [name_f]Mary[/name_f]'s I know have middles that are pretty traditional but [name_f]Nova[/name_f] has always struck me as sort of futuristic and edgy. It would totally balance out the conservative, buttoned-up [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Very cool.

I like it a lot! Modernizes the tradition of double barreled [name_f]Mary[/name_f] names. It flows well and is on the shorter side so I think that will work in your favor.

Some places double barreled first names are common enough occurrences. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you hear this at all in your area? If not, you might get some people calling her [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but ultimately I think that if you call her [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and that is how you introduce her, then she will be called [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. Obviously you’ll have to be okay with her getting just [name_f]Mary[/name_f] now and again and possibly saying “We call her by her full name, [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f], not just [name_f]Mary[/name_f]” for repeat offenders.

It’s very sweet to hear that type of name tradition on a little one.

I really like the tradition of double names. I think it’s a really interesting and potentially great tradition, and I love seeing it used, especially because you’ve modernized it so much! I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is really lovely. While [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is very traditional, [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is definitely edgy, but somehow they harmonize wonderfully. I do agree with aym on how you might have to be firm about the double name, but otherwise I don’t think it’d be a big deal.

Anyways, I vote yes for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f].

I agree with everything @spiderweb said! Another yes for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f].

That’s really cool! I like it.

I like it! [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] feels fresh and fun.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is really pretty. I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] names!

I love it.

Agree with everything that has been said. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] brings [name_f]Nova[/name_f] back down to earth, and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] keeps [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ____ from being another plain [name_f]Jane[/name_f] name.

It’s stunning!
