My brother just passed. As I am absolutely devastated, I am trying to find my own ways to honor him. My husband and I are ttc, and I just got the thought that [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] (Double First name) would be really cute. [name]Mary[/name] for our aunt who just passed and [name]Ryan[/name] is my brothers name. I don’t normally like boys names on girls, but it’s getting more “unisex” and I could see it do about. I just don’t know if [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] is too many R sounds
so i’ve thought about-
And I’m stuck. Can you guys give me some short syllable combo suggestions? I need something to take my mind off of recent events and I thought the berries could be perfect for dishing out some distraction
Well, I will disagree that [name]Ryan[/name] on girls is becoming MORE “unisex”. It’s actually gone down on the SSA chart from 574 in 2011 to 607 in 2012 (it actually peaked in the mid-80’s). 466 births in 2012 compared to 703 in 1987.
That said, [name]Ryan[/name] in the middle doesn’t bother me as much as if you were going to use it as a first name, just keep in mind that it means “little king”. What about [name]Rhiannon[/name] “great queen” or [name]Rhianna[/name]? [name]Both[/name] are very similar but more feminine.
[name]Mae[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name] sounds great but [name]Mae[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] kind of sounds like a first name/last name to me, which isn’t terrible but it could be better. I’m not fond of [name]Zella[/name] with an older brother named [name]Archer[/name].
I am so sorry for your loss. I like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ryan[/name], but there may be too many ‘r’ sounds. [name]How[/name] about [name]Molly[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] or even [name]Anna[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]?
I also like the pp’s suggestion of [name]Rhiannon[/name].
Another suggestion is [name]Maryanne[/name]. [name]Maryanne[/name] combines [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] so nicely!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I actually know several females named [name]Rhyan[/name]/[name]Ryan[/name]. I even think [name]Rhyan[/name] [name]Mary[/name] works a little better than [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] due to the repeated “r” sounds. However, I know a woman named [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] as her first and last name. It works fine, and the first/last combo is going to be said a lot more in a person’s life than the first/middle combo. [name]Molly[/name] is a good suggestion too, since that is a common nickname for [name]Mary[/name].
I am so sorry for your loss. This is a lovely way to pay tribute to your brother.
I generally like [name]Mary[/name] more than [name]Mae[/name] for given names, but in combination with [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Mae[/name] sounds really cute.
I don’t know what style of name you’re into, except short and sorta informal?
The first name that came to mind was [name]Marnie[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]. I like [name]Mae[/name] but it sounds to much like [name]Meg[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] for me. I also like the suggestion of [name]Sylvie[/name]. I think [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] would be a great sib set.
I dislike boys name on girls and girls on boys. - I do agree it aint that bad as its a middle name but to me it still screams BOY.
I like the Idea of [name]Rhianna[/name] or [name]Rhiannon[/name]. Eventhough I like the [name]Mae[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name] or [name]Mae[/name] [name]Rhianna[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Rhianna[/name]. I personally think these would sound better with [name]Rhiannon[/name] & [name]Rhianna[/name] as first names and [name]Mae[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] as middle names.
I love the [name]Maryanne[/name] and [name]Rhiannon[/name] suggestions. Although I do like the name [name]Ryan[/name], I don’t love it paired with [name]Mary[/name]. I’m sorry for you loss.
They just feel so different to me. I know that [name]Zella[/name] is a diminutive of [name]Marcella[/name] but it feels made up next to [name]Archer[/name].
